The School For The Good And Evil, by Soman Chainani

16248113This book is about two girls who go to fairytail school. Sophie a girl with blond hair and silky skin goes to the school for evil. Agatha a girl that prefers to stay alone has a lot of dark thoughts and she has dark black hair that is short down to her shoulders she goes to the school for good. The 2 girls think that the school master a man that chooses the kids from different places made the wrong choice. First Sophie thinks that she should go to the school for good and Agatha wants to go home. Second the girls are friends, and if you are friends with somebody in the other school they send you home.

My favorite part is when Agatha turns into a cockroach and helps Sophie cheat in school. I like that part because it’s fun to think of cheating in school.

“Sophie had waited all her life to be kidnapped “ that is half a sentence from page 1 the first half a sentence, I like the half a sentence because this is the sentence that pulled me into the book.

This book has 488 pages so you might want to see how much time you have to read the book. This book is for people who like fantasy. I would give this book 4***** stares because it was a great book and and the way it is told and the idea of the story is great.

Toys Come Home by Emily Jenkins

Toys Come Home is about a girl who has a lot of stuffed animals. In the book it does not say what the girl’s name is and it just says ‘the girl’. When the girl is not Unknowninside the room all the stuffed animals come to life and their names are stingray that is a stingray, bobby dot that is a seal, sheep that is a sheep ,rocking horse that is a rocking horse and tuck tuck which is a towel but she needs to stay in the bathroom. The stuffed animals can talk and play games and do lots of things. The stuffed animals don’t get to go outside and they just stay home all day in the girls room. There are lots of other characters that come in the book that I did not introduce yet but I will soon.

When it is the girl’s birthday that is when stingray comes to the girls house. Stingray got shipped in a little box and stingray was the girl’s birthday gift. When the girl brings stingray into the room all the stuffed animals stare at her and when the girl leaves the stuffed animals start to be mean to her. When it is night time stingray does not have anywhere to sleep so she just sleeps on the window sill. Soon the girl’s dad dries bobby dot in the dryer and bobby dot was not supposed to be dried so when he comes out of the dryer he is shredded into pieces. So the next day the girl brings Stingray to the toy shop to get a new bobby dot, but the girl does not seem to like him so much so the day after that she brings Stingray again to the toy shop and exchanges the seal with a bull. The bull is named Lumpy. Stingray and Lumpy make friends and now Stingray has a friend to play with. When the girl has her birthday party her parents think she is old enough to have a bowling party so the girl has a bowling party. One of the girls friend gives her a Plastic ball and the girl named it plastic and then Stingray, Lumpy and plastic all make friends. Stingray, Lumpy and Plastic also really like playing hungry hippos and Stingray says “More hippos are the best.” But Plastic thinks that her hippo was full of marbles nine hours ago and she doesn’t understand that you try to get the most marbles.

I really enjoyed this book because it is interesting how Lumpy Stingray and Plastic all make friends and it is exciting how all the stuffed animals can come to life. I would recommend this book because it is exciting and you want to know what is going to happen next. I would give this a five star rating out of five stars.

Adventures According to Humphrey by Betty G. Birney

Adventures according to Humphrey

Adventures According to Humphrey is a book by Betty G. Birney. Humphrey ( the hamster) is the main character. Humphrey is a kind, nice, curious (and lots of other  things)hamster. Humphrey see’s to the library, classroom, Potters Pond and the bus and i think a few other places.

Humphrey does have problems. Like his human friends are bringing boats they did not make and that is against the rules. Humphrey does not have so many problems that include him it is just that his friends are in trouble and it is sometimes because of him so he wants to help and change that mistake he made. The class goes to potters pond  for a trip and they do a race and eat. Humphrey squeaks, “ Thats against the law”. Richie, a student, says , “ I’ll hide it in my backpack. While the race is on, I’ll sneak to the sidelines, slip the submarine in the water, then bring it up fight next to his tall horrible boat”.

This book is one of my favorites like when they go to Potters Pond it is really funny. There are lots of good moments and to me i just keep on wanting to read and i am so sad when i have to stop reading! This book is great for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade. I think everyone would love it and is is that sort of book that makes you love reading. I would rate this book 5 stars out of 5. It is really the best of all.

Ivy And Bean Take Care Of The Baby Sitter

Ivy and Bean Take Care of the Babysitter

This book is by Annie Barrows and Sophie Blackall and is the authors of the other Ivy and Bean books. The main characters in this book are Ivy and Bean, they are girls that are 7 or 8 and are very mischievous. Ivy likes to read books but is also mysterious  and Bean is a noddy and hates her older sister Nancy who is 10. The setting of this book is in Pancake Court where Ivy and Bean live, and it also takes place in Beans house.

Bean has a big problem, her old babysitter is sick and Nancy went up for the job to be her babysitter because she was going to get paid for it. What was Bean going to do in her house when she couldn’t go outside and play in the mud at Sophie W’s house. Bean tries to get Ivy to come into her house to play even though Ivy was allowed to come over Bean thought it would be more fun. Bean wanted to go to the crawl space ( the crawl space is what Beans family calls their attic ) really badly and when her parents are there she is not allowed to so she tries to sneak up into her attic. Nancy also wanted to do something while her parents were gone too, she wanted to put on makeup since a lot of her friends at her school wear makeup but while Nancy was putting on makeup Ivy and Bean went up to the crawl space. “Ivy looked up, up the shelves of sheets and towels to a square wooden door set in the closet ceiling.

This was not my favorite book and I think it was not that interesting compared to the other books in the series. I would recommend this book to 6 – 10 years old. I think this might be a good book to read with your family. This book can also be read by yourself and if you want to read a book about two girls who have lots of fun ideas I think this book is for you. I rate this book three stars out of five *** stars. I think kids might like this book so I hope this book reveiw might tell you that you want to read this book!

Alex Rider: Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz

My book is called Alex Rider: Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz It is about this kid Alex who becomes a spy. He is very fast, sneaky, and well built up.He is a black belt in Karate, he has been on many hikes, bungy jumping, and mountain climbing. This book takes place in England.

Alex’s parents died before he really got a chance to meet them. He lived with his uncle Ian Rider who worked for a bank called the Royal and General. When Ian dies Alex learns that Ian was in fact not a banker but a spy. When Alex was called upon by MI6 (The Royal and General) his life is changed completely. And at age 14 Alex Rider is shipped off to boot camp. He hates boot camp the assault course he refers to as “The adventure playground from hell”. Alex works with a couple of people they are not very nice but he helps one of them and then they are nicer to him.

I loved Stormbreaker because it is very fast exciting and a spy book. I would recommend this to anyone who likes fast moving spy adventures. I give it fifty of five stars. *****I*********************************************200px-Stormbreakerbook

The Nine Lives Of Alexander Baddenfield By John Bemelmans Marciano

The Nine Lives of Alexander Baddenfield is an evil but awesome book by John Bemelmans Marciano. Alexander is the main character and lives in the Baddenfield castle in New York City. Alexander is an evil boy who thinks life is too short. He does all these horrible things such as find a mouse and put it in his python’s cage to be swallowed. His guardian/servant Winterbottom lets him do these things, but only because Alexander will probably tackle him if he says anything.

Alexander comes from an evil line of Baddenfields. It was Pieter Boddenfield who bought Manhattan for $24 in beads and such and cheated the Native Americans. But the earth always found a way to kill a Baddenfield, because of their meanness. So after Alexander’s parents and only relatives get killed in a hunting expedition for endangered species, Winterbottom swears to keep Alexander alive for as long as he can. He has Alexander on diets. He makes him look both ways before crossing the street. He even made Alexander use a stroller until he was eight. But Alexander wants to change that, once and for all. And he will, because this is what he says when he doesn’t get what he wants: “Alexander Baddenfield is unfamiliar with things not going his way. Alexander Baddenfield does not like the word ‘no.’ Alexander Baddenfield is going to start firing people.  And worse.” And he does change, but not in the way he thinks…read the book to find out!

I thought this book was okay, not the best, but not horrible. I love sinister and evil books, but this was a little too sinister. But one thing about this book I love. I love how the main character is evil, because evil people do ridiculous things, like listening through a tube if you’re deaf. I wouldn’t recommend this to below 3rd grade because the character does some pretty terrible things, and pretty terrible things happen to him. I would rate this book 3 ½ out of 5 stars because as I stated before, I thought the book was okay because I like sinister books, but it was a little too sinister.

Spy School, by Stuart Gibbs

Spy School is a book filled with action…

11750648

It’s about a kid named Ben Ripley. He is in 5th grade. He is very smart (I mean… VERY smart) but has a very boring life. One of the only things that he does is that he watches spy movies and looks at the CIA website…

But a second later, in the middle of the school year; a CIA agent named Alexander Hale  breaks into his house and tells Ben things he knows about him. The Hales have generations of CIA agents and Former ones. Keep in mind that skill skips a generation. Before Ben knows it, he’s being told about spy school: a school for future spys.

But Ben’s parents would know if Ben was missing… and the school is top secret. So there’s the lie that convinces the parents. The lie is: it’s the academy of science (they don’t say anything else). His parents say yes, and there he goes… of the Spy School.

But why is this happening in the middle of the school year…

That’s all I have to say. This is just the beginning and There are so many spoilers that that’s all I can say.

I would rate this book 6 out of 5 stars (yes, 6.)

Enjoy!

In this book they state the obvious You must go on an adventure. “Fabian we are going on an adventure.”(page 73) The characters younger brother gets taken by the fairies, in this book fairies are evil creatures. He is that last part of his family left. The book has a lot of flashbacks. The come out all of the sudden sometimes. Red gets stuck in the fairy realm and Fabian and Rowan have to save her. Will Red get her brother back will Fabian and Rowan come in time, find out and Read this book but please consider the following.

I give this book a four and a half. It’s not the best book I’ve ever read it should have ended different. It has great description and should have been longer. There is a series. I will probably not read the others. Though I kept reading the book. At the beginning it is kind of boring. You have to read through it.

Emily Windsnap and the Monster of the Deep, by Liz Kessler

The book I just finished is called Emily Windsnap and the Monster of the Deep written by Liz Kessler. The main character in this book is, of course, Emily Windsnap because the book is based on her. Emily is the type of person who is brave one moment and chickens out the next, she is a girl when given a request is determined to get the thing done , she is a kind and supporting character, but the story wouldn’t be as good as it is without the help of these supporting characters; Shona, who I introduced in the first review, Mary, Emilys mom, and Jake, her dad.

In case you have not read the first book in the series and want to avoid any spoilers, do not read from #1 to #2. (#1) In the first book, Emily finds out that she is a “semi-mer,’ a partial mermaid. Once she finds out that she is a semi-mer she starts to get curious about what lies ahead for the other half of herself, the water half, or, will she end up in a scientist’s lab being studied. One of the things Emily gets curious about is if she will ever see her dad after she finds out that he was a full merman who was in jail for marrying Emily’s mom who is a human. So Emily and Shona plan to go on a journey to find her dad. Once Emily finds him in the jail and they are reunited she must find a way out without being discovered, but she doesn’t succeed. Both Emily and her mom are captured and brought to court. Emily Is brought to mermaid jail and makes a speech about how people or merfolk should be free to love who they want. Neptune, the judge, understood her point and agreed so Emily and her parents were all reunited and moved to Allpoints Island, where the series continues. (#2)

When all seems perfect and the family is settled back in, Emily goes for a swim and feels a strange, strong current pulling her to the darkest, deepest part of the sea. She escapes and returns home to tell her mother about it. On the day before the first day of school, Shona comes to Emily’s house with another mermaid who is going to give them a tour of the Island and the school. The mermaid dares Emily to enter a forbidden zone and wakes Kraken, the seamonster. Kraken was also the source of the strong current that had attempted to pull Emily in.

images The dare that Emily had pulled Shona into had awoken Kraken. Emily ultimately finds out that she and Shona are the only ones who can calm the Kraken be

The second book gets even more exciting and you want to keep reading to find out what is going to happen next. I rate this book five out of five stars and if you are someone who likes books about friendship, adventure, or a hint of fantasy, this book is definitely for you.

cause they are the ones who woke it.

The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin

I recommend the book The Westing Game if you like mystery. It is by Ellen Raskin. The book is about a man and his will. He is said to have been murdered  and there are 16 people who live in a building and they are the suspects.

The story takes place in an apartment building called Sunset Tower.  Also at one point in the book there is a bomber. The bomber injures three people including itself. Thats not the only problem, someone is stealing stuff and in the end they find out who it is. So    back to the topic, they are put into pairs and each pair gets some clues and they have to figure out who killed Mr. Westing out of all of them. One clue that Mr. Westing gives is, “ It is not about what you have, its what you don’t have that matters.”

But Mr. Westing wants one person to be caught. The thing I liked the most about this book is the way it ends, but you should still read the whole book because it is all good. So I would rate this book ten stars out of five. **********.
