Scumble by Ingrid Law

The book that I is finished is called Scumble by Ingrid Law. Scumble is a book for people who like fantasy. The book is about a family who has something called a savvy. A savvy is a magical power. Nobody knows that the family has powers. All of the family members get their powers at 13. But after they turn 13 some of the family gets soft and nice savvys and others destroy stuff. The book is basically about them mastering their special savvy. Scumble is the second book in the series and Savvy is the 1st. If I were to rate this book on a scale of 1 to 5…5 being the best it would be  off the charts.

The Million Dollar Throw, By Mike Lupica

This is an amazing book by an amazing author.  It’s about a boy Named Nate ‘Brady’ Brodie.  He is an extreme patriots fan and his idol is Tom Brady.  He is an eighth grader, lives in Massachusetts and is on his school football team.  He a star QB. The one thing nate really understands and feels comfortable is; well, is football.  He has two best friends: Malcolm (for football and hard times) and Addy (for everything+football and hard times). Addy and Nate go to ‘sportsstuff’ (like Models but with a memorabilia section) and with all the money Nate has been saving up for years… he buys a ball signed by Tom Brady.  It cost 500$.  Then Addy saw a sign that was about a ‘Million Dollar throw’ that would have the winner sand at the 30 yard line and throw a ball into a 20’’ hole in a big ‘sportsstuff’ logo.  It would happen at the Pats stadium at the ‘Thanksgiving Day Game.’  The requirements were you need to be at least 13, make a purchase 500$, get his parents signature and the kids own.  Addy practically made him sign the contract.

Mike Lupica made this into a long story bye having every detail, stretched out sentences, and doesn’t have anything about the throw until a few chapters into the book.

When the throw is happening is 3 chapters until the book is over.  I would rate this book 6 out of 5 stars (yes, 6).

Mike Lupica has lots of suspense in his books and I highly recommend him to sports fans because he does overall excellent writing and has many books about many sports.

Time Squared, Julia Devillers and Jennifer Roy

Time Squared is about two twins named Emma and Payton. A lot of other people get them mixed up and the only person that can tell the difference is their friend Tess. Sometimes they pretend to be each other and nobody knows. The two girls go to N.Y.C. for different reasons, they are stuck with a mean chaperone and they trade places.

There are a lot of obstacles in the way like two girls named Sydney and Jazmine that make fun of how they look alike.

This would be a good story for people who like when the book gets all mixed up and after gets back in order.

I would give this book 4 **** stars because it could be a little less mixed up and share the same information.

Hatchet By Gary Paulsen

  HATCHET

by Gary Paulsen

I’m reading Hatchet by Gary Paulsen, the main characters name is Brian Robeson. The setting of this book is in a plane and the Canadian Wilderness. It is about a boy heading on a plain to see his father and he and the pilot are the only people on the plain something happens to the pilot but I wont say, and Brian lands where he does not want to and he has to survive alone. I did not enjoy the book very much if I were to rate it 1 to 5 I would say 2 or 3. My least favorite part about the book was hearing the gross juicey words about what happened to the pilot. I would recommend this book to people who like kind of an adventure story with sad and GROSS parts.

Hard Luck by Jeff Kinney

Diary of a Wimpy Kid – Hard Luck

“Hard Luck” is about a boy named Greg Hefley who is in middle school and is about thirteen years old. As you probably know, middle school is not the easiest task  of your life.GH [GH stands for greg hefley] tries to find new friends and struggles, after he gets ditched by his old one, Rowley Jefferson. How will greg get

a new friend?

The BFG, by Roald Dahl

The BFG is about a giant. The 12 foot tall BFG (The Big Friendly Giant) catches Sophie (a little girl in a horrible orphanage) watching him blow dreams into childrens’s houses in England with his huge “trombone” thing. Since the BFG didn’t want his species (giants) to be killed, he takes Sophie to Giant Country, and hides her from these 9 man eating giants in his cave/house. Sophie tries to convince the BFG to help her mix-up dreams to make it so that people will help stop the 9 man eating giants stop eating humans, but also making it so The BFG doesn’t die at the same time!

I really enjoyed The BFG. I would recommend the book to kids 8-19 years old because of the text. For example, the BFG says stuff in not the right way or order. Like instead of human beings, he says human beans, and kids younger than 8, would not understand it. I would rate the book more than 5 stars if I could, but I can’t. I’ll just rate it 5 stars.

The Time Garden, by Edward Eager

I rate this 2 out of 5 stars.

The time garden is about 4 kids that find this garden that has thyme that takes you back in time takes you back in time. In the beginning of the book the kid’s parents go to london and they get dropped off at a old house. At one point they find out that a certain kind of thyme can take you different places and then they try and go to london and find their parents.

I thought it was weird because they meet a talking frog that can become a dragon and that it was sort of unrealistic because they go on a train alone to random strangers.

My least favorite part of the book was when they just came into the house because nothing happens at that part.

All in all I would recommend this book to people that like fantasy time travel.

The Sisters Grimm by Michael Buckley.

This book is about two girls, Sabrina and Daphne Grimm whose parent disappeared and were sent to live . The last trace of the person who kidnapped their parents was a bright red hand print. This book has a lot of emotion because Sabrina has a lot of anger in her. Daphne is very inthusiastic about life while sabrina is  a grump.

I give this story five stars.

Flora And Ulysses, By Kate DiCamillo

This book is called Flora And Ulysses by Kate DiCamillo. The main characters are Flora and Ulysses, and they live in Flora’s house in the late 1900’s. Three important events in the book are: Flora saves Ulysses from a vacuum, Flora discovers that Ulysses can understand everything Flora says, and they get into many different adventures. I really enjoy this book because it is exciting and funny.

My favorite part of the book is when Flora saves Ulysses because the vacuum was out of control and Flora was watching it all happen. Then all of a sudden, the vacuum went on top of Ulysses and Flora helped him. It made me laugh to imagine this happening in real life. I would recommend this book to people who like humorous books and fantasy books (because Ulysses can understand Flora). I would also recommend it to people who like Kate DiCamillo books because it is better than her Mercy books.

Lastly, I rate this book five stars because it was exciting, funny, and Kate DiCamillo added images and comic book strips that added to the story.

Luv Ya Bunches by Lauren Myracle

This book is called Yuv Ya Bunches written by Lauren Myracle. It is the first book in the series of the Flower Power books. There are four main characters, Yasman, Katie Rose, Camilla and Violet, who never expected to end up the very best of friends. The girls are in the 5th grade at Rivendell Elementary School, however, this is Violet’s first year there.

One really important event that made the book really exciting was when Camilla’s good luck charm, a bobble head turtle named Tally The Turtle got lost on the first day of school. Throughout most of the book they spend time looking for the turtle and when they find it, if they find it, there is a lot of blaming for who stole it.

Another important thing that happened in the story was that Yasman, the quiet one out of them all, creates a website called BlahBlahSomethingSomething.com which ends up bringing the girls together to be BFF’s.

I can’t just choose one favorite part of the book because I loved all the parts sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much. This is one of the best books I have ever read and I have read a lot of books. The thing that makes this book different from all other books is that the whole story in general was really funny. For example, this punch line made me laugh: Katie Rose

is super-psyched when she gets home Wednesday afternoon, She’s buzzing, that’s how psyched she is! First, chatting with Camilla in the lab went awesomely. Awesometatiously awesomely.

And when Katie Rose calls herself a dingleberry and Camilla tells

Katie Rose what a dingleberry is and they laugh so hard they both fall out of their seats.

I would recommend this book to people who like to read really funny lol moments but also really sad moments. I would rate this book *****five stars.
