Reflection:

What I did:

What I learned:

What I learned about Social Justice “work” and/or Civil and Human rights “work” from this fieldwork:

I learned a lot about this topic regarding the relationship between mental health and social media. One thing that Michelle mentioned is that everyone not only LGBTQ teens struggle with mental health issues. She explained how more specifically during Covid people have been using social media much more, and how it has shown an increase in problems regarding to mental health among all people not just teens. She has many hopes from the Biden Administration, that they will continue to help work with LGBTQ teens. She believes that mental health issues can start not only with social media, but also fear of rejection, family issues, etc. She talked a bit about her experiences at school and how life can be difficult for developing teens. Overall, I learned a lot from Michelle Birkett and informed me a lot about how social media can be a negative/ positive place for LGBTQ teens in several ways.
