What I did:

What I learned:

What I learned about Social Justice “work” and/or Civil and Human rights “work” from this fieldwork:

She mentioned a few times that it is really just good to be very excepting. Most of LGBTQ+ members struggle with exceptence. She also talked about how in covid, almost everyone was affected mentally. Almost everyone’s mental health got worse, and it was especially hard for LGBTQ+ members. She mentioned that the Trevor project is a good organization. She also talked about how it was very nice for LGBTQ+ members to share experiences. She said that everyone she knows has been very excited for the Biden administration, and for them to try and make America a better place for LGBTQ+ members. Something she also said that was interesting was that she made sure to say that people with power aren’t the only ones who can make a difference, and that other people should still take a stand. she also said that it is very powerful for the whole country to be excepting, and that it is really not good when some of the country is trying to take away rights of LGBTQ+ members. She did say specifically that the country has/had homophobic laws and that is really hard for LGBTQ+ members. She also said that it would be easier for LGBTQ+ teens to reach help if more people are accepting.
