Visit to New York Historical Society

Name: Freddie

Social Justice Group: Veterans/Life After War

Date of Fieldwork: December 19, 2017

Name of Organization: New York Historical Society

Person (people) with whom I met and their job titles:

Type of Fieldwork: Museum

What I did:

We look at a special Vietnam war exhibit at the New York Historical Society.

What I learned:

We learned about the war, and how there was no winner and millions of innocent people died for no reason. We also learned about coming home, and how the veterans were hated.

What I learned about Social Justice “work” and/or Civil and Human rights “work” from this fieldwork:

We learned that there is a lot of injustice for veterans coming home from war. Even though many people hated the war, it doesn’t mean they had to hate the veterans who had no choice but too fight in the war.
