Interview With Jennifer Foyle- 2/06/2017

Our seventh fieldwork was getting the opportunity to meet and talk with Jennifer Foyle who is the president of Aerie, American Eagle. We went to their offices and we were greeted by her assistant who took us up to Jennifer’s office. We asked her about their #aeriereal campaign where they use a variety of models with different body types and they don’t photoshop them. The whole campaign has a huge importance to empowering women. According to Jennifer, she and Aerie in general get emails and letters everyday from girls and women thanking them and telling them that the campaign gave them hope. During the interview. During the interview, Jennifer mentioned that they would be having a party and the pop-up store that night, we asked her if we could come and thankfully she agreed! The party was for the All Girl Campaign and at the beginning, there was an interview with all of their real models. What was amazing was that their head model/spokesperson Iskra Lawrence was there! We had been trying to get an interview with her for the past four months so it was so huge for us when we found out she would be there. When I got in, they were doing their pre-party interview with all of the models, I was really inspired when they were all talking about why they loved themselves and who inspires them; it was a very empowering interview. Right after the interview we got to talk to them and take pictures with them. One of the models named Clementine came up to us and we told her about our social justice project and she told us that the campaign was thinking about showing teenagers who care about the project. We were so excited when she told us that maybe they could do a campaign with us! We are currently in touch about this and we are also trying to get them to visit the school. The whole day had a huge impact on our group because we learned so much and it opened up amazing opportunities!

Here we are at the Aerie party with all of the All Girl Campaign models!

Hi my name is Lily Mager. I am a big believer in woman's equality. I find it stupid that we still live in a sexist community and I want to help change that.
