The book Charlie Joe Jackson’s guide to not reading is about a kid named Charlie Joe Jackson and how he hates to read. Charlie Joe Jackson hates reading so much he does some mischievous things to get out of it. Luckily Charlie has a good friend named Katie of course she is a girl because boys need girls to survive because girls know what to do almost all the time. Katie helps Charlie a lot during this book.
I really loved this book because I personally don’t like to read and this book told me I’m not the only one. Another reason I loved the book is because Charlie goes through two problems with school and some more problems about school but not in school. I like when there is an obviously problem that makes me think about what is going to happen next.
My favorite part of the book was when well I don’t know because I liked it all to much to decide. My least favorite part was when the book ended I liked it so much.
I recommend this book to people who don’t like to read because it is about a kid who doesn’t like to read.

Katie is still Charlie’s best friend in the third book.

I really want to read this book when we get back from winter break! It sounds like you enjoyed this book so much because you related to the characters. I really enjoy character-driven books and book about friendship, so I think I would really like this book. When Tommy Greenwald visited, he was really funny. Is the book funny too? Will you read others in this series?

Please explain your thoughts. We discussed this in class and part of what we discussed was that it isn’t okay just to throw out accusations. You have to back up your thoughts.
Emma clarified what she meant in person. She wasn’t intending to be mean. Do you want to clarify your statement?
I agree with Farrah. There was some goodhearted commenting going on. But it does become pretty easy to simply throw accusations of sexism around without really thinking. This is tricky stuff so I think it will make sense to have a conversation in class about this thread next week.
It is also difficult to tell the tone in which a comment should be read. A conversation is definitely in order!
