What I learned about Social Justice “work” and/or Civil and Human rights “work” from this fieldwork:
I learned that the there are some issues in women’s prisons that are overlooked. Many people hear about women being sexually harassed by officers. Not only do women get sexually harassed by police officers, they also deal with the lack of care when they are in labor. They also don’t get to spend a lot of time with their babies after they are born.
