Fieldwork with Asmeret with One Love Community Fridges

Name: Jade Young

Social Justice Group: 2020-2021, Poverty, Hunger & Malnutrition

Date of Fieldwork: March 13, 2021

Person (people) with whom you met and their title(s) & Name of Organization: Asmeret who created One Love Community Fridge in Brooklyn

Type of Fieldwork: Direct Action

Reflection:

What I learned about Social Justice “work” and/or Civil and Human rights “work” from this fieldwork:

I learned how it’s hard to manage community fridges and it takes a lot of work and commitment. You also have to get fridges donated to you and you also have to get food donations. You have to fill up the food at least 1-2 times a day and it builds a sense of community. You can meet your community and start to understand them (and other communities) and you also get volunteers who donate food or money.
