Person (people) with whom you met and their title(s) & Name of Organization: Karina Ciprian

Type of Fieldwork: Interview

Reflection:

What I learned about Social Justice “work” and/or Civil and Human rights “work” from this fieldwork:

We learned that Karina helps support mutual aid with community fridges and they try not to monitor the fridges, so as not to make people feel less of themselves because they need a little bit of extra help. We also learned that communication is important. They try to ask people their stories/situations and understand what’s going on before they judge or assume. Community fridges rely on their hosts, meaning bodegas, bookstores, etc. and they also rely on food and money donations as well.
