Reflection:

What I learned about Social Justice “work” and/or Civil and Human rights “work” from this fieldwork:

We attended an event hosted by Period.org. During the event, we listened to the film-makers and other panelists about their film, Blood and Glory. The short film follows the story of two homeless female veterans and their daily struggles. It mainly focuses in on Rosa, a black woman trying to get a job. On the day of her interview, Rosa has a really heavy period, but no menstrual products to help absorb the blood. She resorted to stealing tampons but decided against it when her companion saw her. The story was truly amazing and portrayed the struggles of period poverty in a clear way.
