Date of Fieldwork: January 27, 2021

Name of Organization:

Person (people) with whom I met and their job titles: Sebastián González de León

Type of Fieldwork: Interview

Reflection:

What I did:

What I learned:

What I learned about Social Justice “work” and/or Civil and Human rights “work” from this fieldwork:

I learned that a lot of immigrants and employers don’t actually know the laws and rights that they have to follow, and that’s why they break them.
Asking people over and over for their proof of documentation is considered harassment.
Visas are exteremly expensive and a lot of people immigrating in can’t afford it. After you buy a visa, you can’t work in the US for six months, so people will spend all their money on a visa, only to not be allowed to work when they get into the country.
