What I did:

When we went to the New York Times to meet with Jodi Kantor, we held a quick interview and asked her questions. She then gave us a mini-tour into the newsroom, and we got to take a picture there.

What I learned:

I learned that being a reporter can be hard, but in the end, it’s always worth it. Jodi Kantor is a woman who is working with her partner, Megan Twohey, to bring down Harvey Weinstein. The work she is doing in the media is very important to both our project and society, and I am very grateful that she is doing it.

What I learned about Social Justice “work” and/or Civil and Human rights “work” from this fieldwork:

I learned that no matter what, the truth must come out–at whatever cost. The New York Times was threatened by Harvey Weinstein’s team when Kantor and Twohey started writing the article that would expose him. Weinstein paid for a lot of ads that were in The New York Times and writing the story would lose those ads, but they still had to let the truth out. This interview was very inspiring for me, especially, because it reinforced that whatever I do, I have to the right thing.
