What I did:

We went to the Paley Center and talked with Caroline Quigley about how Media has affected the world and saw some primary sources of female media representation and how that’s changed over the years and how it’s stayed the same. We also looked into some different types of media and how people create media.

What I learned:

We learnt about the affect of media on young girls, young boys, women, men etc. Media affects the entire world and how we act and treat others. We also learnt about the ways that media is made and how large an impact media has on the time that it is present in.

What I learned about Social Justice “work” and/or Civil and Human rights “work” from this fieldwork:

We learnt how women were used as objects in films and also presented as two-dimensional and stereotypical people. There has been messages put out on what a woman should look like, how they should be treated and how they should act and do. This is an obstruction of human rights because it is treating these women like they don’t have the power to make their own choices and create their own image.
