Date of Fieldwork: March 20, 2019

Name of Organization: Jay Williams

Person (people) with whom I met and their job titles: Jay Williams Former Professional Basketball Player

Type of Fieldwork: Direct Action

What I did:

Jay Williams who was a former NBA player went to our school and spoke to us at a large gathering with the whole school.

What I learned:

I learned about his story and about him and what he does now. He is a really cool guy. I learned that even if you loose your dream there is still hope to do something really cool.

What I learned about Social Justice “work” and/or Civil and Human rights “work” from this fieldwork:

Jay Williams was a Duke basketball player and got picked second by the Chicago Bulls and played one year there. Sadly he got into a motorcycle accident that ruined his career. He still ended up doing things with sports for example he is a commentator. I learned alot of sports and his background. What I enjoyed was meeting him in person and getting to ask him questions. He was a really nice and cool guy to meet and talk to. I hope someday I get to meet him again.
