Women’s March NYC

Name: Emma Hirsch

Social Justice Group: Human Trafficking

Date of Fieldwork: January 20, 2018

Name of Organization: Womens March

Person (people) with whom I met and their job titles: Who ever marched!!!

Type of Fieldwork: Direct Action

What I did:

I went to the Women’s March in NYC. I marched for about 3 hours. This was an incredible experience to see so many people there, men and women. I cheered, chanted, and walked and felt so powerful afetr

What I learned:

I learned that it is important for people to come together to make change. Wether people are directly affected by it or not shouldn’t stop ALL people form taking action against something they are passionate about. Although the march wasn’t directly about sex trafficking it was about coming together as a whole, and freedom and equality for all.

What I learned about Social Justice “work” and/or Civil and Human rights “work” from this fieldwork:

I also learned that taking action takes time. This march happens every year for multiple years. Big issues won’t just get fixed by one march, but it shows that people care and are willing to make change.

Hirsch Emma

My name is Emma Hirsch. I am in the Human Trafficking group. I am interested in this topic because it is frightening how real it is and how it could happen to anyone. I think this topic is important because of how real it is and how many people don't even know what is going on right by them
