Hoop Dreams on Helping Kids in Poverty Through Sports, 12/20/16

Our group all watched the movie Hoop Dreams. The movie is about 2 kids in Chicago who are talented basketball players. They dream about becoming famous NBA players. Both of the kids families are poor, and if the kids can make it big in basketball, they will make money for their families. This movie connects to our topic; Helping Children in Poverty Through Sports. The kids are gifted, and they love basketball. A scout finds them, and they eventually make it to the NBA. This movie is inspiring. It shows that if kids pursue their dreams, big things can happen. The next step that our group wants to take is to do more volunteer work. We plan to teach young kids in public schools new games at recess to make sure that they are getting exercise.

Hoop dreams features young kids who dream to play basketball for the NBA.

My social justice project is Supporting Kids In Education And In Life Through Sports. Sports are incredible beneficial, and important to physical and mental health. Our group is working with different organizations to try to incorporate more physical activity into a students day.
