Washington Square Park Fieldwork

Our Social Justice group went to Washington Square Park to ask random citizens questions about poverty. We asked many different questions, and got all sorts of answers. All of the people we interviewed happened to be very smart, and they all gave amazing answers. Our group in total interviewed about six people, and each interview lasted around four minutes. One of the women we interviewed began to tear up when we asked her “how can we, the people of New York, take action and improve on this issue.” We got all of the interviews either on voice recording or video, and Pierre and I are going to put all of the clips together and make a very touching movie that we will possibly show at Middle School Meeting. Overall, this was a great fieldwork, and we learned that many people in New York want to take action on this topic, but are afraid to speak out. We will fix this problem.

Reggi

My name is Reggi, I am an eighth grader at LREI, Little Red School House and Elisabeth Irwin High School in Greenwich Village. My social justice topic is Children In Poverty. I chose this because I am interested in finding the number of children that do not have enough food to survive, and helping them in whichever way we can.
