LSA Food Pantry Visit

Thursday January 24th, our Social Justice group visited LSA, Little Sisters Assumption, for the second time. We really enjoyed our first experience there and we learned a great deal from it. The people there were so friendly, and it overall seemed like a great community, so we decided to re-visit. This visit, we helped with the food pantry for the entire time. We helped unpack food, and store it. We also broke down boxes, and supplied food for the people that came for it. While we were working, Pierre and others took pictures that we could possibly include in our Social Justice Teach-In Project Preview. We arrived at LSA at about 9:00 am and we stayed until about 11:45 am. After we left, we went for lunch, then to the train station. While we were walking, we were observing the East Harlem area, and comparing it to areas where we live such as Greenwich Village. There are many notable differences, and this is something that our group would further like to explore. Overall, this was a fantastic fieldwork as well as a learning experience. Double-Thumbs up!

Reggi

My name is Reggi, I am an eighth grader at LREI, Little Red School House and Elisabeth Irwin High School in Greenwich Village. My social justice topic is Children In Poverty. I chose this because I am interested in finding the number of children that do not have enough food to survive, and helping them in whichever way we can.
