Santa’s Helpers at St. Brigids

On Saturday the 19th both my group and the education group went to St. Brigids to volunteer. Since, I was the first person to get their they asked me to heimagelp serve food as they were about to start and didn’t have enough hands. After serving food I helped kids do arts and crafts like making snowflakes out of paper and etc. I wasn’t good at making snowflakes so I helped the kids make candy cane ornaments. All the kids were really nice and it was super satisfying after one of them finished, they were all so proud of themselves. Some of the kids were older and more independent, however, the younger three and four year olds needed a bit more help. I liked working with the younger kids because I was a bit more challenging and they liked working with me. Each child was different and needed help with the arts and craft in different ways and it was amazing to see this. Overall, this was a great experience and I hope to do more things like this in upcoming field works.

My name is Ryann and I am an eighth grader at LREI: Little Red School House and Elisabeth Irwin High School . My social justice project topic is children in poverty and the health issues they my acquire or have. I am interested in this topic because I both want to make a change in NYC's children in poverty and want to first hand volunteer and help.
