Volunteering with Everytown

On November 13, Louie, Will and I all met at Bryant park to volunteer with some other Everytown volunteers. We met early in the morning on a friday when we didn’t have school. We walked around the park for a bit looking for any one who stood out. After a couple minutes searching we found 2 volunteers with oranges shirts on passing fliers out. We greeted and they told us what we were doing for that morning. Our goal was to have handed out all of the fliers they gave us by the end of the morning. At first we all were very nervous and reluctant to hand out the fliers to strangers but as the morning progressed we got better and better at it. Around an hour and a half later we were all done with our fliers. We said our goodbyes and headed to lunch at Five Guys.  At first for me I didn’t really want to wake up early on a extra day of the weekend but I really enjoyed meeting new people and having a good time with my friends. This field work taught me about how anyone who wants to make a change can.IMG_8645-wbub3r-1024x765

Flynn

Hi, my name is Flynn Kochey and I am an eighth grader at LREI, Little Red School House and Elisabeth Irwin High School. My topic is Gun Violence Prevention and I chose this because of all the recent gun deaths that could of easily been prevented by a couple few and easy steps.
