POTS, 1/27/14

Part if the Solution, we met with the head chef Keith during morning prep

On Monday the 27th our group visited POTS or Part of the Solution. POTS is a soup kitchen in the Bronx that everyday gives out healthy hot meals for anyone who needs them. I saw for anyone because the people that came to the soup kitchen were not always homeless. There are many people who just needed an extra hot meal that day. I know this because I had been to POTS before with my family so I knew how they worked, and how much they helped the Bronx community. The goal of this fieldwork was to assist this organization with their morning preparations for when people came during lunch hours to receive a hot meal. Upon getting to the organization, which was in the Bronx, we almost got lost. Luckily we found how to get where we needed to be by using Google Maps, and we got there on time. When we did get there, there wasn’t much for us to do to help out POTS. Some of the things we did do was set up tables, prepare the couscous, and flatten and throw away boxes. What interested me at this fieldwork was the dedication that the volunteers had at this organization. Like I said I had visited this organization for the lunch period a week or two before, and I noticed that a few of the volunteers that had been there last time were there again. They are all very kind and generous people to give their time to this great organization. I’m so glad our group went and I will hopefully go again.
