Education: Dropping Out

Volunteering at the LIFT Holiday Fiesta + Gift Drive Donations

We were invited to LIFT’s holiday fiesta in november. We offered to host a gift drive to help get gifts for all the kids that would be going to the fiesta. We ended up getting over 80 gifts and donating them to LIFT for the party. We went to the party which was at their office and we helped set up and we each had different stations for arts and crafts. (Ana was on popcicle stick snowflakes, Leah was on paper ornaments and I was helping give gifts out.) The party was really nice there was food and a picture station and we took turns helping the kids at different stations.

Skype Interview with Brittney Lynch

We recently met with Brittney Lynch to get more information about LIFT. We discussed details about what her charity does and what makes it different from other charities. We are going to hold a toy drive to help with LIFT’s holiday fiesta on Dec 18. We have announced it in homeroom and I sent and email to remind our classmates. We are also going there to volunteer and maybe have a change to interview some people to get a better grasp on how education affects these people. I think it will be a great opportunity so that we can see these people as people, not as statistics.
