Date of Fieldwork: February 12, 2021

Person (people) with whom you met and their title(s) & Name of Organization: Juan De la Cruz with The Coalition for Homeless

Type of Fieldwork: Interview

Reflection:

What I learned about Social Justice “work” and/or Civil and Human rights “work” from this fieldwork:

I learned that the coalition gets 70% more males. They also get more African Americans, Hispanics, and whites last in their ratio. We also learned that volunteering, fundraising and donating are equally very important but that volunteering may actually be even more important since places have lost many volunteers, those volunteers being elderly. They’ve had to turn people away before because they’re at the mercy of the large amount of people they get. They are a mobile service and have many different locations throughout the day. 65-70% of their donations are private donations and 30-35% are government funds and donations. In the end, this was a very informative interview because of the statistics and overall information given.
