Interview with Brittany Lynch

Name: Rafaella Thakur Greene

Social Justice Group: 2018-2019

Date of Fieldwork: November 29, 2018

Name of Organization: LIFT

Person (people) with whom I met and their job titles: Brittany Lynch Program Manager, Coach

Type of Fieldwork: Interview

What I did:

We interviewed Brittany Lynch over Skype and asked her our pre-prepared interview questions.

What I learned:

We learned about the different ways that organizations tackle the many issues of poverty from different points and perspectives. Some organizations try to focus on the children in poverty, whereas LIFT creates a program for parents. Other organizations help with short-term fixes and LIFT focuses on more long-term fixes to help children and families in the long run.

What I learned about Social Justice “work” and/or Civil and Human rights “work” from this fieldwork:

We learned that there are many ways to go about fixing different issues. We learned that different techniques work for different issues and one technique isn’t going to solve all the issues. We also learned that it takes a lot of trial and error to fix an issue and you have to really work hard and continue to work hard for a long time to fix an issue.
