The Trevor Project, 12/2/16

On Friday, December 2nd, our LGBTQ Social Justice group showed our grade a short film called Trevor. The film is about a thirteen year old boy named Trevor who realizes he’s gay when he falls in love with his best friend, Pinkie. With his love for Musical performance and Diana Ross, Trevor is quite the stereotype. I find this movie extremely interesting, and I enjoy the funny vibe it has over a depressing storyline. Listening and watching my classmates’ reaction was extremely interesting. Everyone laughed at the parts that were funny, but were speechless when things got extremely depressing. Overall, everyone’s face was emotionless during the majority of the film. After the movie ended, My group asked some questions. The grade seemed to like the dark humor. They constantly mentioned how many parts of America are still like Trevor’s school, even to this day. Many people agreed that the  movie would be different if it were made today. I enjoyed listening to my class, and I learned a lot about how my classmates feel about LGBTQ issues.
