What I did and what I learned about my topic, activism, social justice work or civil and human rights work from this fieldwork?[:: :
We interviewed Lauren Smolar on her experience being apart of the National Eating Disorder Association. She answered our questions about how to deal with the ups and downs of social media and a way to use social media in a healthy way. She explained that social media is a great place for people with similar views to interact with each other but it also can be used negatively when used to make people feel bad about themselves and can trigger and eating disorder or insecurities.
I enjoyed interviewing Lauren because we got to see her perspective working for the National Eating Disorder Association and we learned about what the organization is working towards to do as their next steps. I also enjoyed this interview because I was informed that social media doesn’t always has to be used in a negative way and with all of us doing our part in using these platforms positively than we can all use social media without having a negative impact on ourselves and each other.
