Reflection:

What I learned about Social Justice “work” and/or Civil and Human rights “work” from this fieldwork:

The pandemic has had an immense impact on women, especially poor women trying to obtain an abortion. State-level lawmakers have used the pandemic as another way to chip at women’s freedom. State lawmakers such as these say that “abortion access is not essential care, and therefore shouldn’t be open during the pandemic. Also, anti-abortion activists now have more time on their hands to protest in front of clinics than ever. “They’ve spit and or coughed on patients in attempts to give them covid-19 as they walk in”

Along with the new supreme court justice, and a conservative majority in the supreme court, roe vs wade has never been so close to being overturned.
