What I learned about Social Justice “work” and/or Civil and Human rights “work” from this fieldwork:

I learned that eji represents both innocent and guilty. They believe that people shouldn’t be in death row because they didn’t have a a chance to prove themselves innocent or if there was a unfair ruling by court. They are mainly based in Alabama and was founded on the fact that 1 in 4 people executed in America were in Alabama. Currently there are 16o people on death row in Alabama. The reason eji is based in Alabama is because in Alabama there isn’t a statewide state funded public defender system, the court will assign a lawyer to a case when someone can’t afford their own lawyer. They are doing great work in Alabama and on top of that they also work outside of Alabama.
