Beauty Culture

Me and my group watched a documentary called Beauty Culture. It was a about how society thought women should act and how they should look. It examined how society impacts young girls to think that they should be pretty in a certain way and that they should have a certain body and be thin. In the documentary, it showed a bunch of women talking about what they thought beauty culture was. It showed models and theirs ideas of what being an perfect model was. For example, one model talked about how she suffered from an eating disorder to become a model. The documentary also showed us how much advertising photoshops women and how it effects people when the see these photoshopped women. People, mostly young girls think that they have to look like that but they can’t because it’s not real. Something that I thought was interesting about the documentary was that how it showed different perspectives of people like body builders, young children, photographers, and teenagers. I liked hearing about their different ideas and perspectives on women in the media.
