2nd Trip to the Paley Center 1/28/15

On Wednesday, January 28th, my group and I brought our whole grade to the Paley Center to take the Girls, Body Image, and Media class. We decided to show the same clips that we saw when we took the class. We were taken up to the same room we had been in for our previous class. We walked in and there was a big screen mounted on the wall in front of a bunch of seats. We had a discussion before we showed any clips to get an idea of what everyone understood about how women are portrayed in the meda. After watching the montage one video stuck out to the whole class. The montage had videos that represented women from the 1980s to 2014. The last video of the montage was the Miley Cyrus’ Wrecking Ball video. We my group and I went to the Paley Center we talked about Miley but we didn’t really get into it. When we brought my whole grade Miley was one of the main focus’. Everyone had something to say about her and the choices she was making. People were agreeing with what she was doing and some people were against her. I thought it was so interesting hearing all my classmates talk about a topic I never knew they had an opinion about. We watched a couple more clips and people were horrified with some of the commercials that were made. It made me really think about how I could make a difference and how this one class changed the way some of my classmates viewed things.
