Final Reflection on Learning:

Update on Progress from Weeks 1-3 (include any photos or video if relevant):
I started by brainstorming what I wanted to do for the picture. I started out by thinking of concepts for the piece and thumbnailing a few sketches. I learned about how positioning the figure on the page can ground can communicate a different message depending on where you put it. This reminded me of a lot of film making, and it was an interesting connection.

Update on Progress from Weeks 4-6 (include any photos or video if relevant):
I started by narrowing it down to only a few ideas and improving on them. I learned about the Dada movement. This was really interesting to me, the style of collage and the color pallets seemed to fit with the idea I was going for. I also learned about using text within the image, separate then a title.

Update on Progress from Weeks 7-9 (include any photos or video if relevant):
I finished the piece I was working on and I really liked how it turned out. I experimented with different materials, tried out different designs, and made mistakes. I really enjoyed the process and I learned about different materials when it comes to designing a poster. I want to learn more about how to incorporate text into an image as I continue the project. I did this a little bit with my current project though it was more a part of the background and I would like to explore this more.

Update on Progress from Weeks 1-3 (include any photos or video if relevant): I started work on a journal that would detail images of horror creatures and concepts that I come up with. I wanted this to look like a research journal from a naturalist, and through both images and text tell a story. I started by doing a quick sketch of some of the creatures I wanted to draw in my journal. I also asked my family about fears they had for inspiration for these creatures.

Update on Progress from Weeks 4-6 (include any photos or video if relevant): To research how I wanted to format this journal when it comes to text and images on the final page I found other similar books from Lovecraft, Spiderwick, and Gravity Falls to use for inspiration. I took notes and studied these along with real naturalist journals to come up with my final design.

Update on Progress from Weeks 7-9 (include any photos or video if relevant): Finally, I started testing out different pens and paper for my journal. Once I decided on the materials I wanted to use I started on the final piece. I had already made a few mock-up pages and I started to copy them over to look more finalized. Since I already knew how I wanted to format this it was just a matter of not messing up since it was in pen. I learned a lot about this and how to really plan out a page to look how I want and tell the story I want.
