For this project, I set out to create a German History timeline that included major events from the 19th to 20th centuries. I focused on the political, social and economic events which shaped the German society in important ways. My goal was to really capture why these historical events and their meanings are important.

Through my German History Timeline, I have learned about so many incredible events that shaped German culture. The project gave me a chance to learn about a country that isn’t talked about in history class, and many new matters such as countries relationships and dependence on one another. I worked on each event every week and decided to add pictures and terms such as “balance of power, and security dilemma.” Later, I found ways to connect them to bigger ideals of leadership that can be useful in future experiences. The slideshow was informative and taught me a lot of stories that I would have never known I would learn.

Please write a description of the project you are proposing. Why do you want to take this on, and what do you hope to learn?

For my 2nd Trimester honors project, I am working with Peter on a German History timeline, from the 19th to 20th-century’s major events. I will focus in on political, social and economic events which have shaped the German society in strong ways, shown through capturing these events on a timeline. I will be putting highlighting these events, two slides per event. The first slide will be key points and important facts about the event itself, while the second will be a visual representation with a series of pictures from online. The goal of this honors project is to really capture why these historical events are worth exploring and their meanings

Critical thinking, creativity, citizenship and courage are essential LREI learning values. Explain how you’ll draw on at least one of these values to complete your proposed project?

I will be using critical thinking through the majority of my project. Its critical to deeply think on how exactly these events are significant to the history of Germany.

What is your proposed outcome? How will you be able to demonstrate successful completion of this Project? How do you plan to share your learnings with the larger LREI community (e.g., exhibit of work, poster of learnings, performance, etc.)?

My final project will show my passion for world history and hopefully be teach the LREI community about the major historical events of Germany and how they were able to make an impact on the German culture. This is a learning expirience for me as well as others.

Please provide a general outline that indicates your work plan for the trimester? What are some of the key project benchmarks (i.e., goals that will help to ensure that you finish the project)?

Each week I will complete 4 slides, for two different events. After the completion of the slides, i will meet with Peter to get his input on each slide. By the end

of the trimester, I should have 15 events and 30 slides completed. Throughout the trimester, I will be constantly editing these slides to make sure they fully capture the essence of each event.

When do you plan on meeting?
Monday X-block

  1. Olivia, as we spoke about last week, this is an excellent idea and I like the way you are scaffolding the work. I approve.
