Eleven By Lauren Myrecle

This book is about a girl who’s life is not that good. Her name is Winifred. She goes by Winnie. The main characters are Winnie’s best friend named Amanda, Winnie, and  a  girl  named  Dinah  Divine. ( It is pronounced Dina, not Diana) This book takes place in a happy little town. One  important  thing  that happened  was that Winnie’s cat gets trapped  in the wall. I really  enjoyed  this book because it is funny and silly. I would recommend  this book to people who like humor but with a little sadness included.  I would totally rate this book 5  stars, because it is totally awesome in my opinion.

Insurgent By Veronica Roth

This book is great for kids ages 10 and up. It gives you a peace of your mind that you would never think of, it also warns you that the government is great. I also liked it because it is full of adventure it has guns in it though. So if you don’t want a hard core adventure book this book is not for you. I would not recommend this book to younger kids because it is kind of intense and it might get them to cries a little bit. I also want to tell you that it’s the second book in a trilogy. The first one is Divergent. The plot is that a faction over through the government, and the main character a girl named Tris and her friend Tobias have to return it to all the factions instead of just one. Will they win or will they lose and die, find out if you read this book. I give this book a five star rating, it also one a book award that is how good it is. Let its magic take over and read that trilogy now.

Much Ado About Anne, By Heather Vogel Fredrick

The main people in this book are Cassidy (the hockey player), Megan ( the fashion crazed), Emma ( the bookworm) and Jess ( the shy one). The setting is Concord, Massachusetts. It is a very historical place. The girls are in a Mother-Daughter book club. There are boys that are mean to the girls and sometimes funny and girls that are mean and tease them. I really liked this book. I would recommend this to people who have read Anne of Green Gables because they read it in the book club. I would rate this 5 out of 5 stars. I liked this because it has things I can connect with the girls. If you like it, it is the second in a series of 6 books. It switches points of view between the 4 girls. If you like books about friends and family you should read this.

My Last Best Friend By Julie Bowe

                                      My last best friend.

                            by Julie Bowe

My last best friend is a really funny, good book. It is about a girl named Jena, and Jena’s best friend moved away. She is starting middle school with no best friend! To put more in Jena’s life,  his girl has a crush on Cole. Cole really has a crush on Jena, so it works out right? NO! They don’t know that the other person likes them! The book takes place mostly at school. I really liked this book! I would give it 5 stars! I Would recommend this book to some one who likes reading about drama in school! The other problem that you will come across in the book is how will she see her old best friend? Help Jena maybe find a new friend! Help Cole figure out if Jena likes him. Help Jena figure out if Cole likes her!

Joshua Dread, Lee Bacon

Joshua Dread is a great adventure book with action packed exploding superpowers and super heros. I would recommend this book to eight and up.

The book is about Joshua and his parents who are villains then he figures out he has a superpower and meets a girl who has a superpower but her dad is a superhero and Joshuas parents and the girl Sophies dad are rivals.

I would recommend this book a 4 out of five stars because the plot kept making me want to read it and they had good cliff hangers befor chapters started an in the next chapter you would figure out the cliffhanger.

The Tiger Rising, By Kate DiCamillo

This is a very good book for someone who likes a mix a nature and non-fiction. The book is about a boy named Robert ‘Rob’ Horton who is around 11 years old. His mother is dead (died from cancer) and finds a tiger in the woods behind the ‘The Kentucky star Motel’ In Florida. The tiger really cheers him up along the way. He meets two ‘bus bullies’ named Norton Threemonger and Billy Threemonger. On one of the bus rides to school he sees  and meets a very independent girl named Sistine Bailey.  She hates Florida and wants to leave. She stands out with her clothing and attitude. She fights first in fights, gets hurt and doesn’t care.

Rob’s dream came true and then his real journey begins.

Two big events are that he finds the tiger and he finds Sistine’s missing pieces to the puzzle.

I would give this book 3 *** because it doesn’t have a lot of suspense. There are parts where you want to just put the book down.

A School Story, By Andrew Clements

This book is called A School Story and if you like Andrew Clements you might like this book. The story is about a girl, her teacher and her best friend who write a book and they try to get it published by the girl’s mom. The really important characters are Natalie Nelson    the girl, Zoe her best friend, Hannah Nelson the girl’s mom and Mrs.Clayton the English teacher.

The story takes place at the Deary  School and at Shipley Junior Books, the publishing company.

I thought that that book was not the best book I have ever read in my whole life so I didn’t enjoy the book.  But there was some goodish exciting parts of the book, like when they had the publishing party for Cassandra Day, which was Natalie’s alias name [fake name.] And the time when she and Zoe got in a fight and they made a whole big deal out of letting Mrs. Clayton help with the book.

My least favorite part was practically the whole thing except for the non boring parts which were the parts I just told you and thats pretty much it.

Why the book didn’t interest me was because the people didn’t have anything exciting to say. The book would have been more interesting if it had funny quotes but there were some things that were funny, like when Natalie said, ”Zoe is not the fastest reader but she is very picky with the books and she liked this one.”

            I would rate this book a ½

Hatchet, By Gary Paulsen

In Gary Paulsen’s book Hatchet, a boy named Brian Robeson finds himself left alone to survive in the Canadian wilderness. Brian encounters  all sorts of wildlife and eats things that he never thought he would eat. Brian is also dreading a secret that isn’t helping him think about how he is going to survive. Later in the book he realizes that he needs to survive and nothing can be in his way.

I found the book ok not great, but that might just be because I am a scaredy cat. One of the reasons why I found the book ok, not great is because I found that the book had too much description; for example when Brian was eating Gary Paulsen was describing guts and muscles. Another reason I found the book ok, not great is that the main character is a kid just like me and it is scary to think about that happening to me or any of my friends.

My favorite part of the book is when Brian gets his head straight and tells himself he needs to survive. I like that part because it made me feel strong and powerful.

My  least favorite part of the book is when Brian first get to the Canadian wilderness because he is confused and very hurt both physically and mentally.

I recommend this book to people that like to be on the edge of their seats and held in suspense a lot when they are reading.

I give this book three out of five stars!

The Chocolate Touch, Patrick Skene Catling

The Chocolate Touch is about a boy that goes to a candy shop, and gets a piece of chocolate, and the next day everything he puts into his mouth turns to chocolate. But it gets worse when every thing his lip touches turns to chocolate.  How will he get rid of it ?

This turns into an adventure in his own neighborhood!

A good book and this book shares a good sense of humor.

The Enormous Egg, By Oliver Butterworth

The main character of this book is Nathan (Nate) Twitchell, he lives in Freedom, NH. He has a lot of chickens/hens, and one day one of his hens lays an enormous egg.  It turns out that it’s a dinosaur egg! He hatches and grows big so they take him to Washington D.C and a senator makes a bill for the dino to go. Who will get the bill, Senator Granderson or Nate?

I enjoyed this book because it keeps you on your toes waiting for the next thing to happen.

I would recommend this book to people who like dinosaurs and who like being on their toes. At one point of the book someone asks if he can turn the dinosaur into a suitcase. I would give this book 3 stars (***) because I’m not the biggest dino-fan.
