Roll Of Thunder Hear My Cry By Mildred D. Taylor

Roll Of thunder Hear My Cry is a sad, and emotional book! The main character is Cassie Logan, and the story follows her and her family through a year. Cassie has different reactions to different experiences and takes on an adventure through her mind, even though it is just her life.

Cassie is a very tricky and curious girl, but still has a big heart and lots of trust for her family. In one part Cassie and her siblings dig a ditch in the road and it rained so it became a lake and the white school bus got stuck when they came to splash the Logans. Another time she tricked a white girl who had been mean to her into thinking she was her friend and servant but then when it was to much she betrayed her. One time Cassie was so curious she snuck out of the house with two of her brothers to see what was going on in the woods. She always had a reason to cry or be scared but she would act harshly in these ways, which is what makes the book so interesting.

Spoiler warning, go to next paragraph to skip spoilers!!!!!

Cassie has so much emotion she almost ran into a fire to save her mom and dad. She ran into  the woods with a angry white mob, and she almost came back after she left to get her older brother back. She can be so angry or sad that the last lines of the book are “I cried for T.J. I cried for T.J. and the land.”

Spoiler clear now!

So I rate this book  4 ½ stars. It is action packed, yet a break from full on adventure like Percy Jackson or Harry Potter. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys history or books like The War that saved my Life, but also anyone who has read Percy Jackson.  I loved Roll Of Thunder Hear My Cry!!!!!!

Foxheart By Claire Legrand

Quicksilver grew up with a hard life. She was abandoned by her parents and grew up in an orphanage. She refused to go by her real name Anastazia and had no name, so everyone called her Pig Witch. Her only friend was a dog she named Fox. She was the big prankster.  One day a man came to the orphanage and got angry, he sent his seven wolves after the girls and revealed himself as the witch hunting wolf king. She fled with fox and found herself at a house of a kid and his ill parents. The kid called himself Sly Boots. Soon Pig Witch became Quicksilver, Best Thief In The Star lands. They made a deal,  he joined her in robbing and he let Quicksilver stay at his house.  On one of their lessons Fox found a stranger with magic Quicksilver just had to have. She went up to the stranger, and little did she know it was the start of a long adventure, in the past, to defeat the Wolf King. Will, Quicksilver, Fox, Sly Boots and the stranger succeed on their quest?

Quicksilver is a brave yet lonely girl. She grew up being teased with barely any friends and when she found true friends she brought them misfortune. She is brave since she was always ready for what came next no matter what the risks were.

I recommend this book to people who like adventure stories, with magic yet sacrifices too. I love it so much, the book really toys with your emotions. I give the book a five star rating.

The War That Saved My Life By Kimberly Brubaker Bradley

Ada is the main character of the book The War That Saved My Life by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley. The book takes place during World War Two, 1939. Ada’s crippled. Her mom is cruel and Ada has never left the small flat she lives in. Ada’s little brother Jamie is going to be sent out of London because of the Natzis bombing London. Jamie didn’t want to leave Ada, and Ada didn’t want Jamie to leave. Ada snuck away with Jamie and got on the train with him. Where will they live? Will Ada have to go back to living with her cruel mother?

Ada is confused, sad and excited about the new rules she is living with. She was alone a lot in the flat. And where she stayed they were nice to her even though she had a clubfoot-which could have been fixed when she was a baby- which means her foot is bent and works the wrong way so hurts to walk. They tried to help her. Susan Smith took them in from the train. She brought Ada to the doctor and helped her get better with her foot. Ada had a wonderful time outside. She taught herself how to ride a pony named Butter. And she befriended a girl named Maggie. Because Ada was not used to people caring for her, she got angry with Susan when Susan tried to help her, or tried to hug her. Her little brother Jamie kept wetting the bed but then he found a cat, who he named Bovril, and stopped.

I really liked the book. It was sad and fun. The best part is at the end. It is big but I don’t want to spoil it, instead I’ll tell you the question. Will Ada and Jamie live with Susan freely or will she have to go home and live with her mom and her mom’s restrictions, for Jamie who wants his mom, since she is not disappointed in him? This book is realistic fiction, it has it’s own drama, but it isn’t fake. The book gives you a taste of history and I would recommend it to people who like drama, with only small action scenes, though a bit, and historical facts about world war 2 and more. I give the book The War That Saved My Life a five star rating!

The Lost Hero: Who Is He?

The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan

Earlier this morning in 2011 Annabeth Chase, and Butch brought three demigods: Jason, Piper, and Leo to Camp Half Blood. Jason went straight to talk with Chiron.

Jason was greeted by Chiron at the big house with quite a grim welcome, “You, you should be dead.”  Jason was very lost. When he was asked questions about his background he didn’t ever have a response. He was very clueless but he knew some parts like that Greek and Roman gods are still alive and that they are a powerful part of civilization, but he had no idea about his own background.

Seymour the camps live stuffed leopard head-a present from Dionysis all,of a sudden had green smoke coming out of his mouth. Chiron, and everything else in there froze except Jason. A image of Juno, the roman version of Hera, appeared. She said, “Our time is limited Jason, my prison grows stronger by the hour. It took me a full month to gather enough energy to work even the smallest magic through its bonds, I’ve managed to bring you here, but i’m growing weaker”

“You are in prison? Look I don’t know you and you’re definitely not my patron,” said Jason. “I don’t remember anything.”

Hera/Juno then revealed that it was her that stole his memory.

Who is Jason, is he going to take the quest the goddess who stole his memory has given him, and if so will he succeed in this task with his friends Piper, and Leo?
