SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!

This contains spoilers.

Wonder is a series and the other books are “Auggie And Me”, “The Julian chapter” Is a  different chapter in the book from Julian’s perspective. “360 days of wonder” is  different book but it has the concept and quotes from people. . Wonder is about a boy named August who has a deformed face and how he lives. But the book has perspectives of different people and August’s friends. For a while August didn’t have any friends but later people started to hang out with him. The book switches between a few people August, Via, Justin, Jack Will, Summer, and Miranda.`This book is about at 2012 to 2017 because texting was a thing and face-touch water fountains(they have sensors so if you put your face in it shoots water).

August is brave because he once heard people talking about how if they were him they would kill themselves. August is at the same time kind of scared because for two years he wore a helmet to hide his face. August is nice because he gives everyone a second chance like when his friend said he was told to be his friend and to be nice to him. However, August forgave him.

One quote from Wonder is “beauty is not in the face beauty is in the heart.” by R.J. Palacio I think she was saying that you can be beautiful on the inside and on the outside doesn’t matter as much. In Wonder I really liked one of the scenes where when August was with his friends and he was bullied by other people and there was a fight and then a chase which added a lot of action. Another scene I liked was when August told his story about how he wore a helmet for two years of his life because he got out of that phase and had grown up. One last thing I liked was when August was hanging around after he graduated from lower school and he was with all his friends.

I really liked this book because of all the characters and how they acted. I liked this because all the characters had different thoughts about August. I would recommend this book to people who like action and realistic fiction. I also would recommend this if you enjoy character swaps (when the perspective changes). If you read Wonder you should read “360 days of Wonder” and “The Julian Chapter” because it continues the story. I give this book 5 stars because it is long and is very realistic about August life.

The Courage Test By James Preller

This book is called The Courage Test by: James Preller. It is about a boy named “William Meriwether Miller” and his father going camping trip to spend some “father and son time” alone. This trip was inspired by the explorers William Clark and his partner Meriwether. On this trip he has a rare and frightening experience with a grizzly bear. He also meets a girl who was in the country illegally. This book takes time and place around the time we are in now because they had fast food places and iPhones.

William is brave because he once was face to face with a bear and didn’t run away He was a little more cautious after encounter. He is also lazy because when it comes to something like hiking he  would rather sit down and have a bag of doritos. He is smart because when it comes to almost drowning he knows how to react by just staying still and not struggling.

One part of the plot that I liked was when Will was left behind and his father left him with a stranger.I liked that because when you read the book you will think that the characters will stay together because it’s a father son camping trip. I also liked that because most books don’t just lose their characters by killing then or something. One of the book/Will’s quotes is “Often the test of courage is to not die but to live.

I really liked this book because it has a few cliffhangers. Another reason this book is good is because it has lots of new characters joining the adventure. I would recommend this book if you like a fast paced book with a lot of characters. Also it would be good for you if you like lazy couch potatoes. This book is one of my favorite adventure books because it has a lot of characters and each is different than the next. Another reason it is good for this type of book is because it’s kind of like a diary or a journal.  I would give it a five because it has a lot of characters and some are lazy(like me)and it has historical facts that teach me about The first people who came to america and trails they took.

Al Capone Does My Shirts By: Gennifer Choldenko

Al Capone Does My Shirts about a boy named Matthew but everybody calls him “Moose.” Moose moves to Alcatraz. Alcatraz is a jail for the worst criminals like murderers, mob bosses, and convicts. To many people these are not the average neighbors that you would get in the city. You would find that in 1935 Alcatraz was a place with regular people living there because they have a relative working or something.

Moose is a character that is responsible, brave, and kind. He is kind because his parents are always away and he takes care of his sister because she can’t take care of herself. Moose is responsible because he has to take care of the whole family and when his sister didn’t get into the school she needed Moose to take all the calls on the phone. Moose is brave because he once got up close to “Al Capone,” a world famous criminal of murderer.

Moose has to live on Alcatraz with his dad who is a guard and a electrician so he can’t see him often. One of the challenges Moose has to deal with is his own sister Natalie who has problems thinking and has a problem getting into school. One interesting thing that happened is Moose made it into a school where he has to deal with a girl named Piper who  sometimes gets him in trouble. Moose’s mom is kind of struggling to make things fit with her and trying to get Natalie in school. It’s hard because Natalie is 16 but Moose’s mom says she is 10 so she can actually get into a school because she can’t go to many schools because of her learning problems like dyslexia and will freak out.

I enjoyed this book because it always has something to keep you entertained, like when Moose was taking care of his sister and thought he found a baseball from the rec  yard that cons would play with and needed to give it to a friend. (A “Con” is a inmate of a prison). One more reason I liked this book was because you meet so many new characters that are all different. I recommend this book because you will find out new characters and weird encounters like when Moose was on a boat and he met Capone’s mother! Another reason this book is good is because you will find out things other people in the book don’t know. Then you will know and it will be a cliff-hanger because no one other than you knows what happens. Overall I would rate this book four stars because it has good characters and interesting problems. They face but the book is a mix between slow and fast paced so you might not understand some parts but if you re-read you will mostly understand the confusing parts.

Diary Of A Wimpy kid Old School By Jeff Kinny

Diary of a Wimpy Kid Old School is a book about school drama. It is funny, and it has cool characters. It takes place in modern time because they have TV and iPhones. The main character’s name is Greg Heffley. He has a  younger brother and an older brother. His older brother is the troublemaker in the family besides Greg. Greg is spoiled but he does not think he is because of his lifestyle, he is lazy and kind of selfish but that partly makes the book good. This book is about his adventures. Greg mostly has to deal with problems that will get worse in the future. In this book he goes to a camp and has a bad time with the help of cabin mates and bad parents. He ends up surviving camp.

Greg is lazy, a trouble maker, brave, and determined. Greg is lazy and kind of a couch potato because once he tried to stay inside and play video games for an entire summer. He is always a troublemaker because  . He is brave because he traveled through the sewers to go to his friends house. He is determined  because he stayed at camp and didn’t .

I found Greg’s family is interesting. Greg is being lectured by his mom and dad all the time. His dad is always saying “you should get out more,” “When I was your age all I did was play outside” and getting him to play and be a “man.” His mom is always telling him to learn more like “let’s start a reading club!” Or “Why don’t you go outside more it’s a sunny day.”I also thought his friend Rowley is interesting because he is a goody two shoes and can’t have fun with his parents around. They will say, “Rowley Jefferson put that stick down this instant!” Greg always finds a way to get out of a mess, though most of the time he gets in trouble.

This book series I would recommend if you like easy reads, fun stories, and interesting characters. I would rate the series 3 and a half out of 5. I rate this that way because sometimes the series is slow but the characters are fun to learn about. And the characters always have funny reactions to what Greg or others do and there are other characters to learn about in the series.
