Genius Files; From Texas With Love By Dan Gutman

(WARNING! DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU HAVE NOT READ AND FINISHED MISSION UNSTOPPABLE, NEVER SAY GENIUS, AND YOU ONLY DIE TWICE.)

 

From Texas with Love is about two thirteen year old kids named Coke and Pepsi Macdonald. They are at the mercy of the insane Dr. Warsaw. He has some henchman: The “Bowler dudes”, two not so smart brothers in bowler hats, and Mrs. Higgins, their evil health teacher who is in love with Dr. Warsaw.

This book is part of a still growing series and is the 4th one.

When they see Dr. Warsaw in Hot Springs spa, he has a breakdown and can’t bring himself to kill them but shortly afterward someone, sends them a cipher and Coke and Pep,(Pepsi) realize that he isn’t done. Who could be sending them a Cipher now?

I liked this book because it was very action packed. In every chapter besides the very beginning, someone tries to kill them in a different way.

I would recommend this to people who like twists, problem solving, action, and memorizing lots and lots of absolutely useless information!

I would give this book 5 out of 5 stars!

SCAT ,by Carl Hiaasen

       Scat is a really good book that is about a teacher that goes into a swamp when a fire is burning to get a student’s medication. The teacher does not come out of the fire, Marta and Nick are wondering why she does not come out. But there is something about the timing, the day before the teacher disappeared a boy in her class eats half of her pencil and people are saying that the boy set the fire. Will Marta and Nick see the puzzle and put it together?

       This is a good book that I did not want to put down. This is a good book that people would love if they loved mystery and leaving you with a never ending idea.

      UnknownI would give this book 1,000 stars if I could, I would give it 5 ***** stars.

Shots At Sea, by Tom Lalicki

This book is about a murderer that is on a ship and tried to murder 2 people but Max a teenage boy is not going to give up on trying to get the man. This mystery is a good one and at most parts they start talking about boring stuff bet then it gets really good.

          At some parts you might feel like putting the book down but keep going. Like don’t judge a book by it’s cover, but it goes a little into the book. It’s a good book other than that.

       People would like this book if they liked mysteries. If you want to read this book don’t do it in bed.

I would give this book 4****.

Ellen Tebbits, By Beverly Cleary

The title of this book is called Ellen Tebbits by Beverly Cleary. The main character is Ellen Tebbits. The setting is in a ballet class and it takes place in the present because they have modern things. Ellen Tebbits has a secret that will ruin her life if people from her school find out. She finds out that the new girl, Austine Allen, is hiding the same secret. They become the best  of friends and Ellen doesn’t feel that embarrassed about her secret. But when Ellen does something that Austine cannot forgive her for, she stops talking to her! It becomes really hard to say sorry to Austine and Ellen doesn’t know what to do.

20131021213542!Cover_of_Ellen_TebbitsI enjoyed this book. my favorite part is when Ellen finds Austine hiding in the broom closet because she doesn’t want anyone to see that she has the secret and they both find out they have the same secret. I would rate this book three stars *** because I liked it, but I didn’t love it. It isn’t my favorite ether. I recommend this book to people who like secretive books because of their secret.

If you are sanctuary born, then you are made in a sanctuary lab, and you are brought up and trained in survival by robots. Eva Nine was brought up by a robot whose name was Muthr. Muthr stands for Multi-utility task help robot zero six. Eva Nine is faced by one who she believes is a traitor. Also Eva Nine meets her sister, Eva Eight. This book is full of thrills, and I would recommend this book to people who like thrills, and times where you think ‘ well, I didn’t see that one coming.’ I would rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Emily Winsnap is a wonderful series of books by Liz Kessler. (Warning: Don’t read the next sentences if you haven’t read the books.) In the 1st book, Emily finds out she can turn into a mermaid when she goes in the water, and tries to hide it so she doesn’t end up in a scientist’s lab. But she finds out a secret that has been hidden since Emily’s birth, that her mermaid friend, Shona, helps her figure out:  Her dad’s a merman! Emily’s dad has been missing since her birth, and when she finally rescues him, her family and Shona go to live in Allpoints Island, where mermaids are safe from humans, which leads to the 2nd book. But we figure out that mermaid girl’s lives aren’t that different than our own. They go to school, have sleepovers, and chat together. But when Emily’s chance to impress the mermaid girls goes horribly wrong, only she can fix it. And to top it off, her only friend isn’t speaking to her. What can she do? Read the book to find out!

This is a two out of three series. #1 is The Secret Language Of Girls. #3 is The Sound Of Your Voice… Only Really Far Away. This book is really good. It is about 2 girls named Kate and Marylin. They are best friends, except this year they were not best friends, the were not even friends! Along the way they meet a lot of girls. Phasley, Flannery and many more! It takes place in middle school. I would give the book 5 stars! It is really intresting to hear about these 2 opposites becoming friends and breaking apart. At some parts it is really funny. Marylin has a secret crush… who might be a little older than her. ( maybe a teacher? who knows?) The girls have a sleepover and there is a mystery at the sleepover, You should read it!

A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle

I think that  a winkle in time is a very good book. I don’t want to give a way to much of the book so I’ll tell you a little of the book .Its about  a girl named meg ,her brother charles and their friend Calvin. In this book they go on a big adventure through time and space others who have read it said that it was really confusing ,but I don’t think so. [Partly because I watch Doctor  Who].  I would give this book a 5*****star rating !! And I recommend this to 4th and 5th graders.

The Lightning Thief, by Rick Riordan

The book The lightning thief is about a boy named Percy Jackson who is something called a half blood. He in the beginning goes to a school called Yancy Academy, a boarding school where Mr. Brunner teaches about greek gods like myths. Percy has a friend named Grover. Percy isn’t the best student so he get expelled every time he goes to a new school. When he got home from Yancy Academy he went on a trip to Montauk some things happen and Percy’s mom dies. Then he ends up at a place called Camp Half Blood. Eventually Percy finds out that his dad is/was Poseidon the god of the sea. Meaning the greek myths are real. After that Percy and his friends go on a quest to prevent a war between the gods.

 

My favorite part of the book is when Percy defeats Ms. Dodds on the field trip to the museum because it was really cool how Mr. Brunners pen turned into a sword.

 

My least favorite part was when Percy first gets to Camp Half Blood because he is really confused and scared.

 

I would recommend this book to people who like a good fantasy book because it has a lot of monsters and stuff like that in it.

 

I would give this book 4 out of 5 stars because it was confusing at some parts, but it is overall a really good book.

The Dog in the Diamond Collar byRebecca Lisle

I read the book Dog in the Diamond Collar, by Rebecca Lisle. I thought this book was terrible because it was too childish. For example, the jokes were meant for younger children and I did not find them funny. The main character was a dog, named Cheeky Monkey, who had a diamond collar and was mean to butlers. However, when his owner gets kidnapped, the dog is helpful in finding him. Cheeky Monkey gets help from three kids. I would not recommend this book because it was boring. I would give this book one star.
