Dork Diaries Not So Happy Heart Breaker by Rachel Renne Russell

DorkDiariesHeart

I  read Dork Diaries Not So Happy Heart Breaker it is the sixth book in the series, it’s by Rachel Renee Russell. The main character’s name is Nicky.

In my book Nicky wants to go to the Valentines Day Dance at her school  but has no one to go with, she wants to ask her friend Brandon but she is too shy.One day Nicky was with her sister Brianna and her sister was pretending she worked at a hair salon. She said that she wanted to do Nicky’s hair and so she cut her hair.  Nicky was so mad at her sister because her hair was sooo short!!

Nicky heard that Brandon  was going to ask someone else to the dance. Nicky is not sure if she wants to go to the dance now that Brandon might be going with someone else.Nicky is a very strange, artistic, funny, weird girl. Nicky has a lot of adventures and one strange thing about her is that she can’t swim. Nickys enemy is a girl name Mackenzie. Makenzie is the opposite of Nicky.

Nicky went to the store to look for a dress for the dance but there were no more dresses!!!!  Read the book to find out what happens next (and I’m NOT telling you).  I really enjoyed this book because it is so funny and it has pictures in it and its not so hard to read. I recommend this book  to people who like funny and easy to read books. I give this book ten stars even though you can only do five. **********

A Star Discovered by JoAnn S. Dawson

imgres

I read A Star Discovered  by JoAnn S Dawson. It’s about a yearling foal. His name is Star.  Also two girls named Jody and Mary. The problem is that Star’s father is top quarter horse (which means he won lots of 1st place and is good at competing and people voted for the horse) and the owner (man in black) lets people breed their mares. If they pay the breeding fee. But Jody does not understand because it was a surprise to Jody she didn’t know that the Quarter horse even bred with Lady. The owner wants to take him because he wants the money but Jody doesn’t have money. No one has money that they want to share. It is summer and the whole summer they tried to figure out the Star incident. Jody was really worried when she heard that the man in black wanted Star.

A change is that Jody was supposed to watch Star grow up but a man in black said that he wanted Star because Willie needs to pay the breeding fee. To the man in black or lose Star because the man wants money.Jody wants to avoid seeing Star.So that she doesn’t burst into tears in front of Star.I bet Star got lonely without the girls. He always stuck his head out when Jody came.

I really enjoyed this book because it was really descriptive and I couldn’t put this book  down. I would recommend this book to people who like animals(who like horses),  I would give it 4 stars because not everyone likes horses if they do then I would give it 5 stars.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney

Diary_of_a_wimpy_kid

The title of the book I am reading is The Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney. The main character in the book is Greg Heffly. There are other important characters in the book such as Greg’s older brother, Rodrick, his younger brother, Manny, his mother and father, and his best friend, Rowley. The main problem in the book is that Greg wants to be the most popular kid in his school, but he is actually one of the most unpopular kids in his school. The settings in the book include Greg’s house, his school and his best friend Rowley’s house.

The plot is that Greg is trying to be popular, but every time he gets close to being popular something goes wrong. An important event in this book is when he chooses his best friend, Rowley, over being popular. Another important event in this story is when Greg is forced to make a big decision when he has to decide whether to help his best friend who is having a hard time or lose the popularity he gains. Greg decided his best friend was more important than popularity. Greg also has a lot of problems with his family. For example, his little brother is always breaking his stuff.

I liked this book because it was about Gregory’s friendship with Rowley and because it was about things that could actually happen; also he’s about my age.  I would recommend this book because it is an easy read and a good story. I would give this book four stars because it is a great book but they aren’t very descriptive about the characters.

Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate DiCamilo

WinnDixie1

Winn-Dixie is very smart for a dog I think, because when Opal pretended that Winn-Dixie was her dog, Winn-Dixie played along.

Winn-Dixie was also very well behaved, because when Opal scrubbed Winn-Dixie down he stayed put. Opal said that he could tell that Winn-Dixie didn’t like it by his facial expressions. But he’s not very patient for example Winn-Dixie’s problem is that he isn’t staying still in the park outside of the preacher’s church. So he thinks that the preacher might not allow Opal to keep Winn-Dixie. So dogs aren’t allowed in Opal’s dad’s church. So Winn-dixie has to wait outside (kids aren’t allowed to be in this park with R.V.’s but they made an exception to Opal for three reasons 1. She is very responsible 2. She is very trustworthy and 3. Her dads the priest of the church on the park)

One time Winn-Dixie saw a mouse in the church, so he did what any other dog would do ; he chased it… but this was in  the church so of course it distracted everybody in the church who were praying Winn-dixie is hoping that she can stay with the preacher and Opal because he is really having a good time with opal (aside from waiting outside of the church.)

I really enjoyed this book because it grasps you in the beginning with scary, sad, and exciting moments. Like in the grocery store when Opals trying to save Winn-Dixie from the dog pound. And when Opal and Winn-Dixie are trying to get the preacher to like Winn-Dixie,it takes a long time for him to make his decision. Also when there is a thunder storm and Winn-dixie gets super scared and its really dramatic.

If you like exciting and gripping books Because of Winn-Dixie is for you!

And its really modern. And doesn’t give you a lot of information so its making you think a bit too!

I rate this book :

****

because there are some sad parts that I don’t like but………. otherwise its AMAZING!!!

Poppy by Avi

Poppy_Book_Cover

I read Poppy by Avi. The main characters are Poppy and Mr. Ocax. Poppy is a mouse and Mr. Ocax is an owl. The main problem is that the mouse population is growing and there isn’t enough food to feed them all. They have to move to a place with more food but Mr.Ocax won’t let them move. It takes place in the woods.

At the beginning of the story, one day Poppy and her boyfriend Ragweed go to Bannock Hill because Ragweed thought that it would be romantic if he asked Poppy to marry him on Bannock Hill. Then Mr. Ocax flies down and eats  Ragweed up and Poppy feels really sad. After that Mr. Ocax wants to eat Poppy but Poppy saves herself and only gets a little scratch on her forehead. Poppy makes a big decision to go through Dimwood Forest all by herself. Mr. Ocax made the mice think that he is the boss and he protects them from porcupines but. Then Poppy figures out that he’s lying and that he’s the one afraid of porcupines and porcupines are vegetarian. He doesn’t want them to move because then he will lose his food.

I enjoyed this book because sometimes it leaves you at a cliffhanger when you just want to read more and find out what’s going to happen. I also think it is fun when the animals are talking. I also really enjoyed this book because it has a lot of feeling at the end of the book. I would recommend this book to people who like books about animals or books that are a little scary or people who like mysteries. I rate this book 4 stars out of five stars.

Wish You Were Erye by Heather Vogel Fredrick

  13406413

I read Wish You Were Erye by Heather Vogel Fredrick, it is in a series called the Mother Daughter Book Club. The main character is a girl named Megan Wong. Megan’s mom and Gigi (Grandma) adopted a French girl named Sophie who seems stuck up. Megan’s mom and Gigi are going out of their way to comfort her but Megan is really jealous so she plays pranks on Sophie trying to get her to want to leave. Megan usually goes to her house in Concord, Connecticut but here are other places she also goes: Her friend’s houses, Paris, New York City, hockey rinks and sometimes to a hill in Concord to go sledding.

Megan wants everything to go back to normal and for Sophie to go away so her parents will pay attention to her. Megan gets a little kitty for her birthday and names it Coco but the kitty likes Sophie better than Megan. Megan’s friend named Emma has a boyfriend named Stewart but it looks like Sophie is stealing him away from Emma. It’s not just Stewart who she is stealing, it’s all the boys at school so Megan does everything possible to make Sophie’s life miserable in Concord, so she will be humiliated. Megan’s Gigi got engaged to Sophie’s grandpa so Megan and Sophie have to become sort of step sisters and be related so they have to work some things out.

I really enjoyed reading this book and the whole series because I can relate to a lot of things that happen in the series. Heather is really good at making you want to know more when you put the book down. Megan’s friends all support each other really well. I would really recommend this book to people who like to read books about things that could happen in real life because these places in the book are real and the books they read are real books. It is Realistic Fiction. I would give this book a 4 star rating.

Always Abigail by Nancy J. Cavanugh

 AlwaysAbigail

The book I’m reading is called Always Abigail. The Author is Nancy J. Cavanaugh. The author lives in Florida with her husband and daughter. The main characters in this book are Abigail and Gabby. The problem is Abigail wants to be popular but Gabby is the school’s biggest outcast, but she is really nice to Abigail. This is a problem because everyone makes fun of Gabby and if Abigail hangs out with her, people might make fun of Abigail too.

This book takes place at a school. Something big that happens is Abigail falls into a BIG mud puddle when she was going to the school bus (because they had a lot of rain lately) and everyone was laughing at her including two girls who Abigail thought were her friends. But Gabby didn’t laugh, and helped her up. The moral of the story is don’t judge a book by it’s cover because the cheerleaders were nice to her until she wasn’t a cheerleader.

I really liked the book and it had a saying I also really liked: When life gives you lemons don’t pucker and pout, make lemonade and laugh out loud. I’d give this book five stars.

She runs downstairs and out the door but as she is running she hears the vacuum turn off, it was to late or was it…

I really liked this book because of the words and the plot. I rate this book 5 out of 5 because the discriptive language grabs you and makes you think about this word sounds like Flora. If you liked the sound of this book then make sure to read it.

Masterpiece by Elise Broach

51iTSvM1fBL._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_This book is called Masterpiece written by Elise Broach and illustrated by Kelly Murphy. The main characters are a shiny black beetle named Marvin and an eleven year old boy named James. The book takes place in New York City, sometimes at James’s house (where Marvin lives) and sometimes at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Marvin drew an amazing pen and ink illustration and by accident James took all the credit. Now James is expected to draw more illustrations but he can’t do it without Marvin’s help.

Marvin and James became really good friends because they would always travel together on wild journeys to The Met and they would collaborate all the time on new drawings. Marvin was sneaking out of the apartment again and again to go to the Met. The streets of New York City are not meant for a little beetle. Everyone in Marvin’s family was really anxious because he was unprotected in the big city.  Albrecht Dürer, who is a famous pen and ink artist is a very important part of this story. Christina, a woman who worked at The Met, has crazy ideas. She thought if James could make a forgery of Albrecht Dürer’s famous drawing then she could use the fake drawing to catch the real criminal who stole the other drawings. James and Marvin work together to find the drawings. “And Prudence! And Temperance! They’ve been missing for more than two years.” Prudence and Temperance are two of Dürer’s drawings.

I really enjoyed this book because I love art and drawings and I also like the four virtues that Dürer drew (a set of four drawings including Prudence and Temperance). I would recommend this book to people who like art and books that almost every chapter is a cliffhanger and you just don’t want to stop reading. I would rate this book five stars because I love art and even if it was complicated I really enjoyed how the whole story connected together and at the end you could connect all the steps together and understand everything.

The cats of Roxville station by Jean Craighead George.

The name of the book I read this summer is The Cats of Roxville Station by Jean Craighead George. The main character is a cat named Ratchet who was mistreated by her owner. She was kicked, locked in the closet, and even went days without food and water. One night Ratchet’s owner went to the river and threw her over the bridge, thinking that it would kill her. But luckily Ratchet survived, got out of the water and wandered into Roxville Station. There she stumbled upon a life full of danger and unexpected kindness.

At Roxville station there is a order of ranking
1. Queennella ( black and white cat)
2. Ice bucket ( white but dirty cat)
3. Flea market ( brown coat matted from fleas)
4. Tatters and Tachometer (black and white sisters)
5. Elizabeth ( a small calico)
6. Rachet ( tiger striped cat)

As she settles into this new life, Rachet begins to work her way up the food chain. She gains new respect from the other cats by challenging Queennella, the head cat. One afternoon, Ratchet crawls through a cracked window and into the basement of a haunted house, owned by a women who hates cats. Little does she know, Mike, a young boy who has tried to befriend Ratchet before, is living there as well.

Suddenly, Ratchet is whirled into a world full of humans, pest control, and fierce predators. If you like action, adventures, drama, and talking animals, then this a book for you.
I rate this book 5 stars.
