15716291I read The Cats Of The Tanglewood Forest by Charles De Lint. The book is about a girl who gets bitten by a snake and turns into a cat and the main character is a girl named Lillian.The setting of the book is on Lillian’s aunt’s farm next to a forest. It is in the country in America.

One adjective to describe Lillian is brave. I think this because she worked for giants and she didn’t run away until she had a reason to other than because they are scary. I think Lillian is kind. I think this because she gives someone something to eat when they’re hungry. I think Lillian is curious. I think so because she tries to find fairies in the forest. A part of the book I found interesting was when Lillian turns into a cat. I think this is interesting because it surprised me that someone would turn into a cat because they were getting bitten by a snake. Another part I found interesting was when Lillian has a potion that makes you able to speak with animals. I think this is interesting because it would be cool to be able to speak with animals. I think this because you could understand what they’re saying.

I enjoyed this book. I loved it because it is fantasy. I like fantasy because anything can happen and it is a surprise what happens next. I also enjoyed it has a lot of exciting things going on at the same time. I would recommend this book. I think you should read it because  it because it is a great fantasy book. I think this book is similar to Warriors Into The Wild. I think it is similar because it also has cats. I would rate it five stars.

Charlie Bone and the Time Twister

The name of the book I read was Charlie Bone and the Time Twister and the author is Jenny Nimmo. It is the second book in the Charlie Bone Series and there are eight in the series. The book is about Charlie Bone finding someone who he is related to but the catch is that he should be dead. The main characters are Charlie Bone, Henry Yewbeam, Billy Raven and Runner Bean. The setting of the book is The Pet’s Cafe, Bloor’s Academy and  Number Nine in the years 1916 and 2006.

Billy is  young, quiet and nice. He is nice but quiet because he’s shy but if you really get to know him he’s nice. Billy is young because he is seven, turning eight. My favorite part of the book is when Henry comes out of nowhere with a marble in his hand in Bloor’s Academy. I think the most important part is when Henry goes to live with James. Another important thing is when Charlie figures out that there is a secret passage from the Pets Cafe to Bloor’s Academy so he can get to Henry on the weekends. Bloor’s is closed down on the weekends so it makes sense that there is no way to get in on the weekends. I like it when Henry goes back to James and it feels like it’s a big HAPPY family reunion (without the sisters).

I enjoyed the book because there is mystery and adventure. There’s adventure when they explore Bloor’s Academy to figure out new mysteries to solve.  I would recommend this book because it takes a long time to read the whole series. Another reason I recommend this book is because it is action packed with spying, misbehaving and hypnotizing. There are no books similar to the book that I have read. I give this book I give this book FIVE STARS but I do not want to read it again because there are sooooooooooooooooooooooooo many other ones in the series.

Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones

Sophie is a regular 17 or 18 year old girl when all of a sudden the Witch of the Waste turns her into a 90 year old woman. I read Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones. The main characters are Sophie and Howl. Sophie is a normal girl, and Howl is a wizard. The book is about a 17 or 18 year old girl who gets turned into an 90 woman by the Witch of the Waste, so she runs away. She finds Howl’s Moving Castle and she starts living there. The setting is in a lot of places, but it mostly takes place inside the castle.

 

Sophie is very nosy, curious and brave. She is nosy because she is going around the castle and looking out of windows cleaning things and looking at other people’s stuff. She is curious because the front door has different colors that they can spin this knob and go to different places. She was looking at all the colors on the doors and was really curious what the black went to. She is brave because she had the courage to run away from her home without saying goodbye or telling her family what had happened. One thing that I thought was really interesting was the front door. You can use the door to go to 4 places that I can remember: Ingary, Kingsbury, Wales and the Moving castle. Another thing about this book is Calcifer. Calcifer is a fire demon. He keeps the castle moving and makes the hot water. Calcifer is under a curse too. Like Sophie, he is not allowed to go out of the fireplace. Only enough to see which way to move the castle. Sophie and Calcifer make a deal that if she breaks the curse on him, he will break the curse on her.

 

I really, really enjoyed this book. I think it is my favorite book now! It’s really interesting how there is magic. Diana Wynne Jones really described the magic, so you can really imagine what’s happening. I would recommend this book because it keeps you reading non stop. You have to keep reading until you get to a stopping point. It gets you really exited about what is going to happen next and the chapters end in cliff hangers. I think I want to read it again. I think people who really like magic should read this book! I think Harry Potter is like this book because there is also a lot of magic in Harry Potter. I rate this book FIVE STARS out of one to five.

The Ice Dragon by George R.R Martin

I read The Ice Dragon by George R.R Martin. The main character is a girl named Adara. Adara was born on one of the coldest days of the winter, so her skin is colder than other kids. Adara loves the ice dragon because it brings the winter. She first rode it when she was five. The book is mainly about the friendship between The  Ice Dragon and Adara. The setting of the book is in a small town where Adara lives, on her father’s farm.

Adara thinks the ice dragon was meant for her because it came the day she was born. A part that I thought was interesting was when you find out how she first rides on the ice dragon because I liked how it made her feel so happy because usually she was so sad and lonely. Another thing I found interesting was that everybody in the town is afraid of the ice dragon, but Adara is really good friends with the ice dragon because she is a winter child. I think she is not very close to her family because her mom died the day she was born so when her dad touches her it reminds him of the day Adara’s mom died. I think Adara is very brave because when she was young a nail went through her foot and she did not even cry. I think Adara is kind because everyone is trying to stop the ice dragon, but she is friends with it. I think Adara is calm because she never makes a fuss about anything. I think this because when she got hurt by the nail she didn’t start yelling or screaming.

I liked this book because it is fiction, and I like reading fiction. I also like it because it has a lot of action and adventure. I recommend this book because it is very fast. I also recommend it because it is very exciting. I think the book Dragon Rider is similar because it also has dragons in it. I would rate it four stars.

Lawless by Jeffrey Salane

The book I read was called Lawless by Jeffrey Salane. The main character is called M Freeman (just M, not a nickname). The book is mainly about this ordinary girl called M. But is she really ordinary? When M was young her father mysteriously died from a plane accident. In the beginning M thinks her mother and father are just art historians but soon she realizes they are master criminals. All her life she’s been home schooled and that all leads up to her being a master criminal herself. She gets into the hidden school Lawless and goes through challenges such as making friends, finding more about herself and parents, and battling through tests and obstacles. On the way to becoming a Master she soon steals a pair famous paintings by Rembrandt, which soon goes wrong. This book takes place in present time, and is in many countries but the one I like the most is in Germany.

 

One of the most interesting parts was when Cal ,one of M’s friends,was on ice and falls into the water. Without thinking M dives after Cal and faints because she didn’t have enough air. I thought it was interesting because it showed friendship between M and Cal and it showed heroic bravery. Another time I found amusing was when M went into the Box (a room that simulates a challenging scenario). Jules (another one of M’s friends) saves her from her fear of heights since she was on a plane in the Box. I thought it was interesting because it displayed that Jules monstrous cared about M, and that she didn’t want M to get hurt. Ms. Watts is cold blooded, mean, and clever. A fascinating character, Ms. Watts is cold blooded because she let her son (Cal) die in cold water and only cared about the painting that fell with him. Ms. Watts is first-class mean because she trapped M and her friends in the dark, tied to a breaking chair. Also Ms.Watts is wickedly clever because she fooled M in leading her to chaos.

 

I enjoyed this book because it was suspenseful and was very mysterious. I also liked it because of the moral fiber in each character. I would recommend this book to fourth graders because it is very adventurous and I know fourth graders like dauntless writing. Also  is very enjoyable, and if you like suspenseful books, you’d like this one.  I think this book may be like the Harry Potter series because those books are very suspenseful. I would give this book 5 stars*****.

The Strange Case Of Origami Yoda

I read The Strange Case Of Origami Yoda by Tom Angleberger it is part of a series called the origami Yoda series. it is about this boy named Tommy who makes a file with everyones stories, about this very odd person named Dwight, who makes this origami Yoda that might tell the future but nobody knows if it really does. The main problem is that everyone tries to figure out if yoda is real but its really hard to figure out. The setting of the book is at school.

 

 

The main character (Tommy) is very curious, smart, and nice.  He is curious because he really wants to know is Yoda REAL or NOT. He is smart because he finds clues that Yoda might be real. He is nice because he listens to what other people say about if they think Yoda is real and doesn’t just say, “You’re wrong! I think yoda is  real.” The most interesting parts of the story are that Tommy and his friends go to this thing called Fun Night. Fun Night is not fun for them even though its called FUN night. Another interesting part of my book is that Tommy thinks origami Yoda is real because Dwight is so dumb, but Yoda is so smart, so dwight can’t be pretending to be Yoda. I think that that part is interesting because it so weird that Yoda is so smart but Dwight is so dumb and strange and odd. When I read that part of the book, it made me feel like I just had to read more. One event that changed the story is when almost everyone thought Yoda was real.

 

 

I really enjoyed this book because it is funny, and it’s not that hard to read and the words are not small but not big. If you are someone who likes funny, strange, weird, odd books, READ THIS ONE. I recommend this book because I think you will enjoy the book. It is one of my favorite books, and I think it will be one of your favorite books too if you read it. This book is not like any other books I have read, it is so weird and crazy. I rate this book 1 MILLION STARS!!!!!!!!  ************* …yoda_cover

Percy Jackson And The Olympians The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

Percy lives a normal life, in normal New York City with his normal mom in a normal apartment. The only thing that is NOT normal is that his dad, is a Greek god. I read Percy Jackson And The Lightning Thief  by Rick Riordan, in the series Percy Jackson And The Olympians. The main character is a boy named Percy Jackson. His dad is a Greek god named Poseidon god of the sea so he is a half-blood (a half human half god child). The main problem is that somebody has stolen Zeus’s master bolt, and Zeus is blaming it on Percy who really does not have it. The story is set in a lot of different places but the one that is the most mentioned is a place called Camp Half Blood. The only place safe for half bloods and Percy’s only summer camp.

 

Percy is brave because he always fights for what’s right, like when Percy fights a guy named Luke who used to be friend because Luke is trying to rise a Titan (the things that ruled the world before the gods took over) that will kill everybody, and, well everything too. He is generous because he is always willing to give things to other people to help them, like when his friend Grover (Grover is a half-man-half- goat also known as a satyr) was trying to get something to make him an official satyr, so Percy helps him get it by going on a quest. He also always puts himself before other people because whenever he fights, he shields all the other people fighting. On his quest when he is trying to find the lightning bolt he meets Ares, god of war and Ares makes Percy do him a favor, including going into an amusement park and saving a shield (that doesn’t work out too well). He also went to pay a visit to Hades, the god of the dead, and tries to get the bolt, but Hades doesn’t have the bolt either so Hades gets mad at him and almost tortures Percy. Percy has to make a lot of decisions so that the quest will work out as smoothly as possible.

 

I really enjoyed the book because there is a lot of mythical things such as gods and satyrs and a ton of other really cool, things. It is a very good story about things that are mythical and makes you want to read more. I recommend this book to people who enjoy books about magic and adventures. The genre of this book is fantasy. This book is kind of like Harry Potter because there is a lot of battles and a lot of magic that goes on. I would give this book a five star rating.

In the there are things called Auras (not Aura, the girl in fourth grade) and almost everybody has a different one. The main characters are Sophie and Josh Newman, Dr. John Dee, Perenelle Flamel, and Nicolas Flamel. The title of my book is and it is in the series The Secrets of The Immortal Nicholas Flamel. The Author of my book is Michael Scott.The problem is that Dee and “The Bad Guys” are trying to remake the old time when Danu Talis (Atlantis) was still above water but Perenelle, Nicholas, Sophie, and Josh are trying to stop them because it will cause things to blow up all around the world. The setting of the book is in 2007 in the beginning of the summer and they travel all over world. I think the author of the book did a lot of studying because he takes so much Mythology from so many different places.

Perenelle is smart, tall, and elegant. Perenelle is smart because Nicholas always says “If only Perenelle were here” because he doesn’t have very good ideas. Perenelle is tall and elegant because in the book it says “was a tall, elegant woman.” I think the story is about the life of Nicholas Flamel. I also think the book is about the prophecy which you will find out if you read the book. One of the most interesting parts in the book is the battle of Hekate’s (Heh-ca-tay) Shadowrealm. Another one of my favorite parts are when Dee goes into Bastet’s home.  I think the part that changes the story the most is when Perenelle gets captured by Dee. One of the main characters does not make any big decisions.

 

I loved this book because it has some of my favorite genres. My favorite genres are Mythology and Action. I would recommend this book to people who like adventure and Mythology. The genres are Mythology, Action, and Adventure. This book has a main character mentioned in the first book in the Harry Potter series. I give this book five because it is a really good book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Mark of Athena by Rick Riordian

The name of my book is The Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan. This book is from the series  The Heroes Of Olympus. There are seven main characters in my book. They are all demigods. Their nimgresames are Piper, Jason, Leo, Hazel, Frank, Percy and Annabeth. The problem is the seven main characters have to go to several different places to find clues that will lead them to the prison where Hazel’s brother Nico is being held.  There are a lot of different settings in the book. Some examples are Camp Jupiter in California, Atlanta, Georgia and Charleston, South Carolina.

One of the main characters, Annabeth, is smart, caring, and in a relationship. She is smart because when Frank didn’t know how to figure out the Chinese handcuffs, instead of taking the handcuffs and showing him, Annabeth figured out how to calculate the escape from her diagrams on her computer. She was caring because when Percy (her boyfriend) was lost, she spent a lot of time looking for him. Annabeth and Percy are boyfriend and girlfriend.  When Percy, Frank and Coach Hedge were in Atlanta, they went to an Aquarium. In the Aquarium, they found Phorcys, a sea god. He tricked them into being captured in a glass fish tank designed for demigods.  Another part of the story that stands out to me is Echo and Narcissus.  Echo is a creature who can only repeat what other people have already said. She can’t talk normally because she was cursed. So far in my book, there has not been any big decisions made by a main character.

I have enjoyed the book so far. I like that there are a lot of different characters to learn about. I like how there is a lot action. I would recommend this book because each character is very different from each other and each have their own story. Each character has something they are going through. This book is fiction. This book connects to others in the same series. It is the third book. If you have not read this series yet you should read the first book first.  I would give this book 5 stars (even though I am still reading it).

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K Roling

Harry Potter with his magical ways goes through the action packed book of Harry Potter Goblet Of Fire by Jimgres-1.K. Rowling, it is the 4th book in the Harry Potter series. It’s about a boy named Harry Potter and he is a wizard. The main problem is that there is a contest called the triwizard tournament. It is a really dangerous contest and Harry was put in, but he wasn’t the one who entered, someone else did even though he has to be 17 and he is only 14. This tournament took place at Hogwarts the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Harry is a pretty curious person, when he doesn’t know something he will try to figure it out, like in the 2nd book (The Chamber Of Secrets) he puts on his cloak of invisibility  (a cloak that makes him invisible) to find out who was stunning everyone when he wasn’t allowed. Harry is also a really nice person and is only mean to the people who are mean to him like all the Slytherins (one of the 4 houses at Hogwarts, there is also Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Gryffindor). They are always teasing him so he is mean back to them but he is really kind to all the people who are kind to back to him. Harry is a really brave boy like in the end he duels the strongest wizard in the world when most would run away. In the contest there are three courses: the 1st is to steal a golden egg from a fully grown dragon, the 2nd is that they have 1 hour to rescue their friends from under the lake, in the 3rd they have to walk through a maze with dangerous obstacles and the first to get to the Triwizard Cup wins. Harry and Cedric, who was also in the competition got to the cup first, they agreed to touch it at the same time. Instead of being teleported to Hogwarts they went to a graveyard where he-who-must-not-be-named (Voldemort) was revived. When Voldemort came back to life it was the start of his reign and terror…again.

I really liked this book because I am a fiction kind of person and this is a fiction book. I also really liked this book because it’s has some fantasy in it, it’s not like happily ever after kind of fantasy, it is sort of the opposite but is still in the fantasy genre. I recommend this book to anyone who likes fiction books. If you are more of a nonfiction person then you may not like as much but you should still read it because it is still a really great book. This book is also like The Heroes Of Olympus series because in both they are battling evil and in both they have some kind of magical powers. (Note: if you haven’t read The Heroes Of Olympus then read that series too)
