Wonder By Raguel J. Palacio

The book I read was Wonder. It was written by Raquel J. Palacio. This book is kind of in a series because there are special chapters that the author made to show the other characters that are mentioned in the book. The main characters are: August, Jack Will and Julian. This book is about how August has been homeschooled his whole life and when he finally goes to school he has such a hard time. He has a hard time because of his facial deformity. Like how Julian says have you been a fire or something. But when Julian says it Jack Will steps in and tells Julian to shut up. And that’s when August made his first friend. One day August walked in and saw Jack Will and Julian looking for August because he was supposed to where a Boba Fett but came in as bloody scream. So August listened to there conversation and heard Jack Will say that I look like Darth Sidious (Julian’s costume). So he told him something like I don’t want to be friends anymore. (Couple days later) After some months they did make up. After that Julian started to put notes in our during the locker because Jack Will punched him in the face. But Julian did get suspended for two weeks. During those weeks they went on a nature retreat and on that nature retreat the seventh graders started a fight and then amos came in and wrecked them and they ran. When they went back to school August was popular. And Julian was super suspicious. And Julian was really unpopular. In the end August was awarded the award of being brave and stuff like that.

I believe August is brave, smart and sensitive. I believe August is brave because he went to school and put up with all of that teasing (even when he wasn’t in school he was teased). I believe August is smart because when he came into the school tour he wanted to join the science elective which is the hardest class in the whole school. August is sensitive because when Jack, Will, and Julian were talking August heard them and got really upset. He was upset because August heard that Jack Will said that August looked exactly like Julian’s mask, which was Darth Sidious a.k.a Emperor Palpatine. I believe that Jack Will is caring, ingenious and two faced. Jack Will is caring because when August came to the tour and Julian said something really mean Jack Will stood up to him. Jack Will is ingenious because the things he does just makes him seem really original like how he was kind of popular and caring because some people let popularity get to their head. Like how Julian did and started to be really mean. Jack Will is two faced because he is good friends with August but he was talking to Julian about something really mean about August. I believe Julian is short tempered, untrustworthy and popular. Julian is short tempered because after him and Jack Will had their “beef” soon after he started to do these really mean post it’s and putting them in their lockers. He is untrustworthy because he and Jack used to be best friends but then he stabbed him in the back and got punched in the face because of it. Julian is very popular because the second he made “plague” everyone believed him. There is only one rule do not touch August or you have the plague.

The most important part of the book in my opinion was in the end of the book when August won the award of being brave and things like that. This was important because August has some serious facial issues which made it more important, that August won the award it.The second most interesting part of the book in my opinion was when the seventh graders were bullying August and Amos and Miles stepped in and started a fight with the 7th graders. This is important for two reasons. One reason is this shows that even with a kid like August involved who grosses everyone out, there are still allies. The other reason is that people can change because Amos and Miles used to be in Julian’s group and now they are with August. Another interesting part of the book is how Charlotte only ever pays attention to August when the teachers teachers are around, otherwise she only nods hello. Jack Will is nice to him automatically but Julian I think we all know how he is to August. This is interesting to me because they were both asked to be August’s welcome buddy but only Jack Will was nice to him other than summer were nice to him. An important quote from the book was the first paragraph. The paragraph is, “I know I’m not an ordinary ten-year-old kid. I mean, sure, I do ordinary things. I eat ice cream. I ride my bike. I play ball. I have an Xbox. Stuff like that makes me ordinary. I guess. And I feel ordinary. Inside. But I know ordinary kids don’t make other ordinary kids run away screaming in playgrounds. I know ordinary kids don’t get stared at wherever they go.” This is an important paragraph because it really shows what August feels and who he is. It shows that August is pretty normal but people are judging him by his cover not the inside.

I enjoyed this book very much. I enjoyed this book because it  has many different ways you can think about the book. Like which side are you on, Julian or August. Another reason is because it has a very interesting backstory and a even more interesting story line like how everything changes when August came into the school. Another reason is that this kind of continues the talk about bullying and allies. I would recommend this book. I would recommend this book to people who lies the kind of books with things happening on every page, not to readers who like take things in slowly. This book reminds me of nothing because nothing really has this book’s same story line, well nothing has the same story line of this book. What I’m trying to say is that this book really sticks out to me and many of other people have read this book and liked it to. Now for the one to five rating. One = I didn’t like it that much. Two = I didn’t like it. Three = It was pretty good. Four = I really liked. Five = I loved it. I want to read it again. And I would rate this book five.

Spy School By Stuart Gibbs

The book I read was called Spy School it is written by Stuart Gibbs. This book is about a kid named Benjamin Ripley who has amazing math skills and a girl named Erica Hale who is an amazing spy. One day coming home from school Benjamin  a man named Alexander Hale who recruits Benjamin because of a fake skill that Benjamin doesn’t have. When he gets to Spy School there was a test to make sure he is actually qualified to go to Spy school. That was when he met Erica. The penalty for not making it through the test was death. If you weren’t qualified to be a spy you would probably die.  Benjamin did survive by meeting Erika who helped him through the test she also gave him a taser which he didn’t think was helpful but since he had a crush on Erika he didn’t say it. Soon after he met Chip Schacter who wanted Benjamin to hack into one of the computers so he could cheat and get all the answers. Then after that Murray Hill came in and knocked out Chip. Later in the middle of the night a murderer came into Ben’s room. Ben pulled out a tennis racket from the side of his bed and he hit the murderer with the tennis racket out the window. Ben  didn’t want to be embarrassed in front of them either because he was in boxers.

Benjamin is smart, determined and friendly. Ben is smart because when Alexander asked him what is 98,261 times 147 ,Ben immediately said “14,444,365”. Ben is determined on getting himself off the SPYDER’s hit list. He is also determined to get Erica to like him so he has to impress her which will be hard because she is the best in the school. Benjamin is a friendly because within like three days of being in Spy School he managed to get at least five friends. Erica is smart, independent, and prepared. Erica is smart because instead of making friends she reads, studies and practice things. At lunch she sits on a bench alone and reads. Erica is independent because she would rather do it right then let someone else do it wrong. For example when everyone was doing paintball and when the plan they made went wrong. Erica already had her own plan and she took out the guards and made sure that no one that no one would see that she went up the castle shot the sniper and stole the flag. Erica is a quick thinker because when Ben and Erika just figured out the mole’s location Erika already grabbed two M16s. This makes her a quick thinker because it proves she is ahead of the game and is ready for anything. Chip Schacter is two faced, sneaky and, tough. Chip is two faced because in the beginning of the book he was the bully like when he threatened Ben unless Ben  hack into the school computer so he could see all the answers to get better grades. Chip is sneaky because when everyone was playing paintball he snuck out and found a bomb in a cave. Chip is reckless because when he went to the bomb during paintball, he already had terrible grades on his bomb defusing class and he could have blown up the hole school.

I think the most interesting part of Spy School was when Ben and the mole are fighting and then Ben shot the huge ice crystal above the mole’s head making the mole fall unconscious. I think this is the most interesting part of the book because pretty much the whole book was. The second most interesting part of this book was when Erica made Ben say really bad things to the principal like what’d you’ve for lunch today dog poo? This is interesting to me because he is already in so much trouble now Erica asked him to get into even more trouble and she wouldn’t even tell him why she wanted him to do it. The third most interesting part of the book is the fact that Warren has a crush on Zoe but Zoe has a crush on Ben this is interesting to me because they are supposed to be working together on finding the mole. The most important part of Spy School is when Alexander came to Ben’s room to recruit him because if he didn’t there would be no point of the book and he wouldn’t have done all the cool things or met all of these people. The second most important part of the book is when they discovered that SPOILER ALERT Murray was the mole because if they hadn’t, SPYDER would have gathered so much information about the CIA and that would have ended everything if SPYDER had all of the details about the CIA. The third most important part of the book was when Ben discovers that SPOILER ALERT Alexander Hale is a fraud because otherwise Ben would be looking up to a guy that doesn’t even know anything and if he did that he would probably die. He would die because Alexander didn’t do anything right so Alexander would say something they would go into a trap and die. An important quote/message that Ben received to show when he was accepted into Spy School. Dear Mr. Benjamin Ripley it’s my great privilege to accept you to the Academy of Espionage of the Central Intelligence Agency, effective immediately. This quote/message is important to the book because if he didn’t get the message there would be no proof that Ben would be qualified or allowed to be in Spy School.

I enjoyed this book because Spy School because it has elements from genres there is mystery, action, adventure, fiction, spying and, drama. Also on occasion this book is kind of funny. Also because on almost every page there is something important or awesome happening. I would recommended this book because it has lots of unexpected twists that make it more interesting. Also because when you get into it you can’t come out of it like a trance, and I wish it will never stop. There are no TV shows, movies or books that I know of that are like Spy School. I think this because there are some things that are like this that I do not know of but if there are I want to read them because this book was amazing. I would rate this from five to one. Five which means I loved it. I want to read it again.

Castle In The Mist by Amy Ephron

This book is about a girl named Tess and her brother Max. Tess goes on a big adventure and finds a skeleton key that opens the gate to the castle. In the castle she finds a boy named William and he is very nice and helps them. He lives in the castle. They play lots of games, and have fun while they do it. William’s father is very protective, and that is why there is the invisible gate blocking people from seeing in unless they have the key. Also Tess and Max realize that this castle is very magical and awesome. This book takes place in England in 2017.

Tess is caring, adventurous and, smart. Tess is caring because she will always think about others. This is true because when Max went into the Hawthorn trees she went straight after him. Tess is adventurous because she would always chose something adventurous over anything else. Like when was going to the castle she didn’t know what was going to something bad was going to happen or something good was going to happen.Tess is smart because whenever she does something she comes with a plan or knows exactly what to do. Also when she was on her horse and completely lost she knew how to get back to her aunt’s house.

I think the most interesting part of the book is when Tess goes to the fake or real place after riding the magical merry-go-round where she rides her horse all the way back to the merry-go-round because I like how mystical and mysterious that part of the book was and how interesting it was. The second most interesting part of the book is when Tess was going to the castle because she didn’t know what was going to happen or who was there or if it was cursed even worse!!! The third most interesting part of the book is when Tess, Max and William played the golf game where they had to hit the ball to the bell because so it would make the bell sound to get a point and they had to hit it in a direct hit on the bell which Max really mad. I found really surprising by how safety/security William’s dad is because he has an invisible gate that does not allow people to see in or let them.I am surprised by how exciting this book is because at almost all the parts in this book something new or interesting is happening.

I enjoyed this book. One reason I enjoyed this book is because I like the magic and mystery. The second reason I like this book is that has lots of twists in it that make it more interesting and exciting. I would recommend this book it is fun to read and every chapter has something new. I think this book relates to nothing because it is such a unique book because nothing is like the same type as book as Castle In The Mist. This book is unique because most books don’t have the same backstory as the Castle in the mist.  I would rate this book five stars which means I love it and I want to read it again.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, by J.K. Rowling

The book is about a kid named Harry Potter who has a scar from Lord Voldemort,  very powerful wizard who also killed his parents who were also very powerful. The main characters are Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. The story takes place in London and Hogwarts. The Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is divided into four houses, each bearing the last name of its founder: Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw and Salazar Slytherin. It is located in the Highlands of Scotland.

Harry is brave, caring, intelligent, a fast thinker and lucky. Harry is brave because he faces Voldemort, the man who killed his parents. I  think Harry is caring because he always helps someone when they need it. Harry is also caring because he always thinks about others before himself. I think Harry is intelligent because he is very good at figuring things out when he needs to. I think that Harry is a fast thinker because when he’s in danger and all else fails he will come up with something and get out of there. Harry is lucky because when he is in danger someone or something will help him like in the Chamber Of Secrets when he was battling the basilisk and Fawkes came in and gave him a sword.

An important event in this book was when Hagrid finally got out of Azkaban. Which is a place that is pretty much escape proof guarded by scary demons called Dementors. This is important because Hagrid really helps Harry, Hermione and Ron and now he’s back as a teacher that teaches about animals and how to take care of them. I found the most interesting part of the book was when Neville changed Professer Snape into a boggart and then everyone had to say their greatest fear to confuse the boggart until it was so confused it exploded. A boggart is a shape shifter that usually lurks in dark spaces. I found this interesting because it made me laugh so much and I just couldn’t stop reading the book and the book just kept on pulling me in.

I enjoyed this book because as I said before, I enjoy this genre and it was very enjoyable. I like the parts that are appropriate but still enjoyable. Another reason I would recommend this book because it is funny. One of those parts was when they went to Hagrid’s class and they had to take care of a slug. It also has amazing scenes even though it is a book and there are no pictures but you can still imagine amazing pictures. I think this book relates to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. I think that they are alike because they are both magical adventures and action packed. I’ll give this book a good four stars. Four stars = I really liked it. As a fun fact I learned that there is a theme park for Hogwarts in Universal Studios in Florida.

Beast Purposing To Beauty

An important event from my book is when the Beauty lied to the Beast so she could get away from him, because she did NOT want to marry him. The lie was, “I must leave because my father is sick”. This is important because the only way the Beast can change back into a real boy is if he gets a kiss from her. She does not know that the beast is a very handsome prince under all that ugly ness.
