THE TUCK’S ARE NOT A NORMAL FAMILY. I read Tuck everlasting by Natalie Babbitt. Winnie Foster is a well brought up girl. She lives in a place called treegap. Winnie is bored as usual so she goes for a walk in the woods. The Tuck family has a big  secret. When Winnie catches Jesse Tuck drink from a spring in the woods she wants to drink some too. Jessie will not let Winnie drink from the spring. Just then Mae and Miles appear. Mae is aware of Winnie’s wish and decides to kidnap her. Soon Mae tells her about why she couldn’t drink the water. The Tucks are immortal because the spring wasn’t an ordinary spring. It was a fountain of youth. But a man in a yellow suit hears and tells Winnie’s family if they sell the woods to him he will bring Winnie back. Mr Tuck made Winnie understand why she must not tell anyone.  “We are not people we are just rocks by the road.”

The man goes back to the Tuck’s house and tells them about the woods and the plan. That he was selling the water to people. So Mae Tuck hit him on the head with a shotgun. Mae Tuck is arrested and is to be hanged. But then Mae can not die. Winnie switches places with Mae Tuck so the Tucks can escape. Later the constable sees Winnie’s face and lets her go. Jessie is growing to like Winnie so he gave her a bottle of the special water before he runs of. Will Winnie see Jesse again?

I loved this book because I read it nonstop and couldn’t put it down. I would give it five stars.

Secret of the night Ponies Diorama

I read The Secret of the Night Ponies by Joan Hiatt Harlow. Jessie has a very kind heart. She really loves horses. This book is about Jessie. She loves horses a lot. When she walks into a fenced up place in the woods she is wondering why there are Newfoundland ponies in the middle of the woods. (Jessie has the flashlight.)

My diorama shows Jessie rescuing nine Wild Newfoundland ponies in Meloy’s fenced up place in the wood with her friends Meta, Margie, Polly and Polly’s twin. The girls had a slumber party and waited until midnight to sneak out and rescue the Wild ponies. This is when Jessie finds out what Jack Hawley and Meloy Mccrumb are up to. Meloy and Jack are catching all the wild Newfoundland ponies and they are shipping them to Quebec for horse meat. That is not only why Jessie dislikes Meloy. He also hits his child and is very mean to her. Meloy also kicked Jessie’s dog Blizzard. Here in my diorama it shows the fenced up ponies with Jessie and her friends sneaking out at night and saving the ponies.

Jessie is very independent and she is a country girl. She has an old fashioned way of talking. I also think this is the best book I ever read. Even when my mom tried to put me to bed I always said, “Wait one more sentence!”

PACY IS AN ORDINARY GIRL IN AN ORDINARY SCHOOL.

Well, not ordinary she wants to be an artist and writer. She knew that she had real talent so she wrote, The Year of the Rat. It is by Grace Lin. It’s about her life growing up as a child. It is the last book of the Year series. Grace’s Chinese name is Pacy. It is about two best friends named Pacy and Melody. Pacy and Melody are neighbors they live in New Hartford. The Year of the Rat is coming up and Pacy and Melody write some resolutions on a card because they’re celebrating Chinese New Year together. Melody is the only other Taiwanese family and Pacy’s  best friend. Anyway they are staying up ‘till midnight for Chinese New Year for their tradition. Pacy and Melody are given a card and they write their resolutions. Pacy‘s were really similar to Melody’s. But one of Melody‘s was different, hers was to stay in New Hartford and that’s where the sad part begins. Pacy asks “Why did you write stay in New Hartford?” Melody is sad now and says I’m not supposed to tell you on the New Year because it’s bad luck to be sad on the New Year but my parents told me we might move to California. Pacy thinks this is unfair that her best friend is moving. Her other friends Becky and Charlotte for some reason are strange with Pacy. After a while Pacy went over to Melody‘s house to help pack up everything and Melody’s mom told Melody to share half of her books but Melody loved them all so they took turns pointing to books and they would mail the books back. When it was time for Pacy to say bye she knew mailing the books wouldn’t be the same and a Chinese boy was moving in to Melody’s house and Pacy called whoever was moving in enemy. The boy’s name was Dun Wei when he went to school for the first time Pacy thought he was strange. For instance, he carried a lunch box instead of a paper bag and when the bullies came they called him Dumb Way and he got angry and muttered something back in Chinese. He swung his lunch box at the boys who called him Dumb Way and they all got in trouble and Dun Wei gave Pacy a hopeful look but Pacy ignored it.  On the full moon festival she celebrated with Dun Wei and said thank you when he gave her a lantern. He said “Bu ke chi. I mean you’re welcome.”  Pacy wished that she could change and be friends with enemy.

I would say Pacy’s personality is talkative because in the book she says a lot of things and learns a lot too. She is also shy because she didn’t help Dun Wei when he gave her a hopeful look when he got in trouble. Pacy’s other personality is brave because she said bye to her best friend. Charlotte and Becky are a little strange around her but Pacy found out why they are strange around her. It was because she ignored them when Melody came and she never answered to Becky and Charlotte when they spoke to her she ignored them because of Melody.

I really enjoyed this book because I understand this book really well. Also this book is really interesting because you can find out how life was. I  would recommend this book to anyone who needs something to do. They would now never be bored. I would say this book isn’t similar to any book I know. I would give this book five stars by Ally

The Dear Old Briar-Patch

imgres

Peter lives in The Dear Old Briar-Patch.   He is not an ORDINARY rabbit. Peter Rabbit and his wife live in the Briar Patch because none of the animals who want to eat him can get through the brambles. They could probably get through. But give up because they would get scratched up. It’s by Thornton W. Burgess (He is my great great great Uncle) He was inspired to write this book because he spent a lot of his free time to study animals out on the

green meadows. He learned a lot so he decided to write a book to share with his family. And to teach others about what he learned. This book is about a rabbit named Peter his wife Mrs Peter. Peter likes to explore a lot and he likes to learn about the other animals & their babies.  the book is winter, then it is spring. Mrs. Peter has babies too. But she didn’t tell Peter about it. Peter learns about all his neighbors by asking them questions, but some of them get

annoyed (especially the bees.)

Peter loves going on adventures. He’s very adventurous because sometimes he goes on an adventure and has no idea what he’s looking for. But he usually finds something interesting. He is also very short tempered because he is always arguing back. He YELLS, but he is nice. I really enjoyed the part when Peter was looking for the butterfly that makes a clicking sound because the other animals teased him. They said, “How are your clicking butterflies” in a teasing way. Peter didn’t let them tease him because he says back “If there’s a Clicking butterfly then I will find it.” And he did! One of the most interesting parts is when Peter saw a bee chewing wood, but really the bee (madam bald face) was making a special paper to make a hive so she can lay her eggs. Later  her babies will help out. My favorite animal that Peter meets is Tharisa, a special type of fly. She is the nicest and the most polite of all the animals he meets. Also the last animal.

I loved this book so much because I LOVE ANIMALS!!! I usually don’t enjoy reading. This time I really wanted to read more of it and more of it. I would recommend this book to people who love animals because the book is about animals. Also how their babies live. I think this book is similar to Magic Puppy because it’s about a animal that can speak English. I rate this book FIVE STARS!

Fake Mustache by Tom Angleberger

61BaV6HUF1L   Fake Mustache

or how Jodie ‘o Rodeo and some nerdy kid saved the world from a mastermind criminal

Fake Mustache is not an ordinary book! Casper and Lenny Junior are best friends. Casper buys a fake mustache and a suit for a short man about town. Fake Mustache is by Tom Angleberger (who wrote Origami Yoda.)  Casper started robbing banks in disguise of short man about town with a fit handlebar mustache so no one will know who he is. Lenny decides to tell the police about what Casper did. But Casper finds out and gives his gold blocks and million dollars to the Heidelberg Novelty Company. Casper returns the other suit to become a different man. He gets a pinstripe suit and becomes Fako Mustacho. He is elected governor because everyone loves him. They live in a town called Hairsprinkle. It takes place in 2008. Lenny decides to wear a disguise and finds a Jodie ‘o Rodeo costume. “Who are you?”Jodie asks on the trolley and Jodie also believes that Fako Mustacho is a kid who has a fake mustache. But how can they prove that it’s true?

It started at school when Casper pays Lenny ten dollars which felt crisp like it came from the bank. Lenny and Jodie  try to save the world from Fako Mustacho. When Casper found out that Lenny turned him into the police he decided to do something mean in return. He became Fako and told people that Lenny was the evil one who robbed a bank and stole gold blocks. Everyone is hypnotized by Fako’s lie. Lenny is trying to defeat Fako so people know that it’s a fake mustache. Lenny likes to take his time because he spent lots of time trying to defeat Fako without violence. Lenny is very cautious to do the right thing. Also he tries not to use violence unless he really needs to because he just tried to steal Fako’s mustache by walking up to him and quickly grabbing his fake mustache. Lenny is also interested in girls because he wants to kiss Jodie. One of the most interesting parts was when Lenny got stuck in Fako’s office because Fako locked him in. Another part was when Jodie got a love text from Fako. When Fako texted Jodie I think that was important because it tells you more about what Fako likes. Lenny’s big decision was to move on without his criminal best friend. Nobody believes that Fako Mustacho is a kid with a fake mustache. When Lenny sneaks in the Heidelberg Co he meets Hank Heidelberg who gives  him edible chicken erasers, a fake booger gun to shoot fake boogers out of your nose, trick gum that electrocutes people when they touch it and a laughing bomb to make someone distracted with the laughing noise. Lenny is really aware of what is happening and tries to warn others. Also he is calm because Fako Mustacho is accusing him of a crime that Lenny didn’t do.

I really enjoyed this book because it has a lot of action. There are lots of lies in it too. I would recommend this book because it is a really good book. It is also interesting. I found out this book is interesting. When I told myself to put the book down so I could sleep my brain always told me just one more sentence. I have never read a book with a mastermind criminal so I have no connections but it does remind me of super heroes and saving the world except super heroes stories don’t involve crushes and a fake mustache. I would give it five stars.

A Star Discovered by JoAnn S. Dawson

imgres

I read A Star Discovered  by JoAnn S Dawson. It’s about a yearling foal. His name is Star.  Also two girls named Jody and Mary. The problem is that Star’s father is top quarter horse (which means he won lots of 1st place and is good at competing and people voted for the horse) and the owner (man in black) lets people breed their mares. If they pay the breeding fee. But Jody does not understand because it was a surprise to Jody she didn’t know that the Quarter horse even bred with Lady. The owner wants to take him because he wants the money but Jody doesn’t have money. No one has money that they want to share. It is summer and the whole summer they tried to figure out the Star incident. Jody was really worried when she heard that the man in black wanted Star.

A change is that Jody was supposed to watch Star grow up but a man in black said that he wanted Star because Willie needs to pay the breeding fee. To the man in black or lose Star because the man wants money.Jody wants to avoid seeing Star.So that she doesn’t burst into tears in front of Star.I bet Star got lonely without the girls. He always stuck his head out when Jody came.

I really enjoyed this book because it was really descriptive and I couldn’t put this book  down. I would recommend this book to people who like animals(who like horses),  I would give it 4 stars because not everyone likes horses if they do then I would give it 5 stars.
