I read the book Wayside School is Falling Down by Louis Sachar. This is the second book of a series called “The Wayside School”. There are thirty main characters in this book. The book is mainly about all the different kids in the Wayside School and their different stories. The setting of the book is the Wayside School. It is thirty stories high with one classroom on each floor, but it was meant to be one floor with thirty class rooms in a row.
I have a lot of favorite parts of the book. One interesting part is the chapter about Mrs. Mush, the lunch lady. In the beginning of her chapter it says, “warning: do not read this story right after eating. In fact, don’t read it right before eating, either. In fact, just to be safe, don’t read this if you’re ever planning to eat again.” You will have to read the chapter to figure out why. I also love the chapter about Bebes Little Brother. I liked this chapter because it is really funny because every time Bebe brings back her homework it says something mean and disrespectful about Mrs. Jewls. This is funny because of the things she wrote. Bebe wrote that Mrs. Jewls’ head is full of oatmeal and it leaks out of her ears too and she said George Washington never told a lie unlike Mrs. Jewls. The chapter is a little confusing but you get it at the end of the chapter. I will stop there because I don’t want to spoil anything. Three adjectives to describe Mrs. Jewls are weird, curious and dumb. What she did to the computer was weird and in other little parts of the book she is weird also, and curious because she wants to know everyone’s problems. But also dumb because she is always doing the opposite of what people tell her to.
I really liked this book. I would read it 10,000 times because it is so funny. I laughed through all of the book. Also, if you are someone that does not like to read, like me, this is a good book for you. Because when you read one sentence you can’t stop reading. Each chapter is about 2-4 pages and it is a very small book. I would recommend this book to everyone and people that like funny books. A book that is sort of like this is Amelia Bedelia. This book is the exact opposite of our school because of all the crazy things they do. Out of 1-5 I would give it a 5!
Anna,
It must have been somewhat challenging to figure out which characters to write about since there are so many in the book! Your enthusiasm for the book is incredible! I don’t know how anyone could resist reading the book after reading your review.
The way you described the book makes me want to read it. Books that have short chapters make it easier for me to read them. If they have long chapters it goes on and on and then I get bored.
