Personal Muir Web
Another one of our projects was to expand our ideas and thoughts o our diet. We wrote down a typical meal and then listed the organisms we depended on for that meal. We had to think of abiotic and biotic factors. Next we started making it a muir web. We put it in spiderscribe and started to add even more. I liked this project because I had never really thought of all the organisms I depend on when I am eating even the simplest foods.
Class Muir Web
One of our first projects was making a muir web on a product that we think has the most BIOTIC and ABIOTIC factors. My group picked a white board cleaner spray. I think this project was cool, and interesting because we picked something that we thought wouldn’t work, and it turned out to have a lot of the factors we were looking for. At first my group thought we didn’t have the best idea, and that it wouldn’t work, but after a lot of research we learned that white board cleaning spray has a lot of biotic and abiotic factors involved with it.
This picture shows all the connected systems inside your body. My group focused on the muscle system, and the muscle system connects to all the other system. All the systems take in or give something to another system. Here it shows all 7 systems and the stuff it does to help each other out. Each group gives or takes in something from one another. I was confused for two systems because I wasn’t there when they presented but I tried my best with the information I had.
Muscular system function
Do you ever wonder how the heart does all those things fit your body? Do you ever wonder if the shape of you heart changes what it does? If your heart was shaped differently would it still do the same things or would it have different functions?
The heart is a muscle. The function of the heart is to pump blood and circulate it through the body. The structure helps the function because the heart is round so the veins that spread can go at any angle and any part of the body. Another reason is that it’s good that the heart is more at the top of your body than the bottom because it’s probably easier for blood to travel down than up. The heart is small so it is hard for it to be punctured and there are valves on the heart that make it easier to make blood flow through your body.
The heart is helpful to the brain because the brain needs a lot of blood and the heart is very close to the brain.
What does the 6th grade eat for lunch?
This is what the class eats!
This is what the 6th grade eats after looking at the ideal diet. We looked at what we needed more of, and what we needed less of. Most people changed their diet but some people stayed the same. I noticed that grain stayed the same, protein went down, Veggies went up, dairy went up, and fruit went up.
Science game
Tilda, Stella and I made a game for science class. We made it on scratch and it is about photosynthesis. We got a chance to show our game to the fifth graders. Some of them knew all of the answers and some of them knew none. To fix that we made a button, so that it gives you the recipe. The button was really helpful. Tilda did most of the coding but she let me try. It’s harder than it looks! There is hundreds of codes for just one page! This project was really fun for all of us, and we already started our next game.
