FBI Demands Apple to Create a Skeleton Key

The FBI wants Apple to create a skeleton key to bypass the security feature on the Phone of a terrorist. My dad and I talked about the facts, and our ideas on how to resolve the issue. Can we trust the government won’t abuse their usage of the key? A few years ago an employee of the NSA (National Security Agency) named Edward Snowden exposed information on the U.S government’s secret spy program on it’s own citizens. Since then companies have been taking extra safety precautions on privacy.

In this case the FBI went to a court to get a warrant to be able to search the iphone, in the same way they get a warrant to search a house. Search warrants are an important tool for policing our society, and after much discussion with my dad I believe that there is no difference from getting a warrant to search a house and a warrant to search a phone. Therefore Apple should work with the FBI rather than against the FBI. My idea for this is for the key to never leave Apple’s lab so it can’t be abused by the FBI or any other government agency. Apple can put the files that the government wants into a special flash drive. As long as the government gets a warrant Apple can repeat this process and help the government in the war against terrorism.

Gun Violence

Gun violence is shooting random people or groups of people for no reason. In my opinion gun violence is a real problem that Obama has not yet to fully fix. He has made it so you need to have a background check and a license to buy a gun, but even if someone is supposedly good they can still turn bad and shoot. My opinion in fixing this crisis is that the only people allowed to own and carry a gun are approved by their superiors and are a part of a safety department in the FBI or the Police Departments. The Government would need to change the Second Amendment to accompany this change, but I believe the constitution will do it if necessary.

I do not agree with NRA (National Rifle Association) and the Second Amendment because that puts everyone in danger of gun violence from mentally ill people and criminals. The NRA goes against my solution to gun violence in a way that they want everyone to be able to have a gun, but realistically not everyone is safe with a gun. A gun is extremely dangerous because not only is it long-distant, you can also use the metal part to knock someone out, and the bullets are super powerful. In conclusion guns are not safe and should not be passed around like a toy.

Human Computer!

On the last Friday of the First Quarter, yay! Clair turned us into parts of a computer. There would be the users (the people who controlled the computer), peripherals (mouse, and keyboard), Bios (bodyguard), CPU (brain), RAM (short term memory), hard drive (long term memory), and finally the fan (most important part). Clair was IT help, problem solved then fixed the computer. We were each assigned different parts of the motherboard (floor, ground). I was Bios and hard drive. I noticed and learned that a virus, played by Larry, could severely impact how the computer works. I would have liked to try the peripherals for a little bit while we were computers… maybe next time, it was really fun.

My Font!

I loved this project! I really enjoyed drawing samples for my font and the chance to actually use it. I hope that I can use my font while I’m writing on computer. My first idea was to make all the lines straight with no curves, and that lead me to my second concept which was to do the complete opposite, and try wavy. This is the theme I ended up using, because I thought it expressed my personality. If I would name my font it would be…drum roll please…wavy W.

The First Three Weeks of School

My favorite food! We should have this everyday.

School is really interesting, and I love Middle School so far. My three favorite classes are Art, Science, and Mandarin. But I really think that we should have a longer lunch. It is fast for me because I am normally one of the last people to get up, also when I start to eat there is around five more minutes left. Everything else though I think is really nice.

The Mysterious Benedict Society By Trenton Lee Stewart

cover.225x225-75The name of the book I read is The Mysterious Benedict Society (book one), the book is by Trenton Lee Stewart. The book takes place in Stonetown (somewhere on the planet Earth), in present time. The main characters are Reynard “Reynie” Muldoon, George “Sticky”  Washington, Kate “The Great Kate Weather Machine” Wetherall, and Constance Contraire. The main problem is that they have to overcome their differences and learn to work together to save the world from Ledroptha Curtain, and his Whisperer machine before he makes the world his piece of paper.

“Sometimes, Reynie, trouble itself is the key.” – Mr. Benedict. The biggest turning point is when the characters (The Mysterious Benedict Society) worked together to shut down the Whisperer by confusing it. After bickering constantly about all the secrets and things they wouldn’t tell each other, they finally bonded together as a team and friends. Throughout the story an important decision is whether to cheat or not to cheat to get higher up in the ranks to become a messenger. Messengers go into the Whisperer and learn more about how Mr. Curtain is able to bend almost everyone’s minds. In the end the big problems do fade away but their shadows are still there.

This is a breathtaking book, and there are many examples as to why. But, for right now just three. The first example is that the characters are so relatable, a little bit of yourself is in every character. Constance is determined, stubborn, and very resistant to anything she doesn’t like. Reynie is the go to for puzzles, and problems guy. Kate is very resourceful, and adventurous. Finally, Sticky is the know-it-all.    The second example is that  the story was never boring, or dull, and it never made me want to do other things. The third example is that some of the many riddles and clever wordplay was easy to solve before the characters did, and other times you  just have to go along with the book and the characters. The kind of reader that would enjoy this series is a reader that loves to think, and enjoys some mystery as well as action. The book gives you a lot of uncoded messages that you as well as the characters have to figure out. If I were to rate this book from 1 to 10 stars, I’d give it a full on 10. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
