French Reflection of the First Quarter

My favorite activity in french was writing sentences about ourselves and posting it to the blog. We also chose a picture with it. I think my area of strength  was writing sentences and doing activities in the textbook. It was a little challenging writing sentences about myself because sometimes my sentences didn’t make sense so I would have to figure out how to change it. I think that I got better at writing sentences and using the right words in them. My goal for the next quarter is to be able to focus well on french homework and pay attention to little details so I don’t make silly mistakes. I have made a little progress on that so far, like when we were writing sentences about Halloween vocabulary.

French Halloween Project

These are sentences for describing this picture. It was fun drawing all the pictures and describing them in french. I learned/reviewed all the Halloween vocabulary. It was fun drawing the pictures because we could make it any way we wanted to, but with all the Halloween objects in the picture.

6th Grade Ashokan Trip

This is my activity group at the covered bridge

This is my activity group at the covered bridge

This years Ashokan trip was a lot more fun than last year. An interesting thing that we did was blacksmithing. I never knew that when metal was hot it turned red, so that was a really cool discover for me. I also thought the ropes course was really fun. Some parts were hard to balance on but at the end the course there was a zip line which was probably my favorite part. It was different from last year because last year we did a lot more hiking and did more things in the woods. This year we get to do more ‘fun’ activities, at least that’s what I think. Last year I thought the water tasted really bad so I brought three water bottles. It was worth the heaviness. But water in the 6th grade girls room was also a lot better than the 5th grade girls room!

Beowulf Project

This is the Grendel Olivia B, Oliver and I drew

This picture is a scary monster that is in the book we are reading, Beowulf. His name is Grendel. We had to draw a picture of him so everyone would have a sense of what everything would look like from the book. I am proud of this project because it’s colorful and looks a bit scary. In the beginning when we were drawing drafts of Grendel it was looking more cute than scary. Also the slime looks really cool in the drawing and all his crooked teeth and blood dripping down his body.

After

These two pictures are a before and after picture. The before is when all my problems were clumped together and I couldn’t see the space in between each problem. The after is when everything was more clear and there was space in between each problem. It’s important to have neat work because if I need to look back at my work I can understand and see where my work is.

Je suis Olivia

This assignment was about describing yourself using different adjectives. I learned how to describe myself in different french vocabulary, like body parts. I thought it was fun because we could describe ourselves in french, and after looking at it, it  feels good to be able to write a whole paragraph in french!

Je m’appelle Olivia. J’ai onze ans. Je suis americaine. Je suis brune. J’ai les cheveux longs. J’ai les mains douces. J’ai les grand pieds. J’ai les dents blanches. J’ai les petites oreilles. J’ai une voix calme.  Je suis amusant,e intelligente et sympatique. J’ai mal au cou.
