Nellie- Week 3: Theatre Studies in Quarantine

This week we finally started the Theatre club. It was a lot more nerve-wracking then I thought it was going to be. I have directed before and being in person means I am too distracted by what I’m doing to over-think but being alone in my room means my mind has plenty of time to wander. Suddenly, I am leading a club with underclassmen and upperclassmen. I keep creating scenarios where each of them suddenly loses faith in the club because I say something awkwardly. However, as the classes continue I realize everyone else is just as nervous about the fact that this is over zoom. No one wants to be the person to speak. I’ve also noticed that being in smaller groups is extremely helpful, and everyone relaxes once they’re actually working on a scene rather then meeting with the full attendance. I think that as the weeks continue students will relax and become more comfortable with what they’re doing.
