Oscar Chun Focused Writing CR #6

Throughout my 7 weeks, my essential question has been the same. However I never really thought about my essential question. It honestly wasn’t a big part of my project. Still, with that being said, I believe I have answered my essential question. You can do as much research as you want about the process of writing which is helpful, but real learning comes from actually writing something. The process of writing is not a set idea or method, it is whatever works for the writer. There is no right or wrong way to write it is only what you feel the most comfortable with.

It was a little different from what I was expecting to learn. I thought I was going to get some clear methods, but from every author I talked to and read about, they were very insistent that there was now a correct method only methods that you feel comfortable with. I never thought I was going to get such helpful information from these people, but what they told me made me a better writer. I was not expecting that I would learn so much about writing and dealing with my anxiety.

This experience will help me through my own writing. Not just Bad Roll, but all my little ideas and projects. It has helped me look past all the technical errors of my own writing skills and focus on what is really important: the story. Everything can be fixed and edited later, I just need to get my ideas out on paper. Overall I feel like this experience has definitely changed me for the better.

Honestly, I’m not sure what I should tell other people about my experience. It was more of a personal mission and a project to help myself. I would like to explain how this experience has helped me throughout these 7 weeks. I believe that is the most important takeaway from this project, the improvement of my own writing and knowledge of how I write.
