While the silhouette was not inspired by the fabulous David Lynch film of the same name, the material was chosen almost exclusively for that reason. I was initially making this dress as the back for my pinecone skirt but when I used gold doilies as appliqués for the dress I realized the gold stood out too much but I loved the way the blue and the gold matched so I decided to make them separate. I used the inside of a blue velvet ring box to make a bust for the dress to add to the dynamacism. I added the appliqués down the side of the dress and on the sleeves. The hat was made from a mix of paper and left over Paper Mache that I had and I covered it in the gold tinfoil from Ferreira Roche that my mom got me for easter. I’m very happy with this look.
