What is the relationship between concept and execution in fashion?

I have learned a decent amount about myself as a designer. Prior to this project, I had dipped my toe into fashion but never really explored it in a real way. This project was a place to do that and on that level I more than succeeded. I learned that I am someone who planning doesn’t necessarily work for. While I am limited with material, and silhouette, because of my doll, anytime I would do a sketch my final, let alone my initial product would not even resemble my sketch. While this is not to say that as I continue to make fashion that I refuse to sketch, I think of it much more so as my ability to move with a garment. Each piece of fabric or any material or that matter has a way of moving and being placed, and to follow that make the best garment possible. I also learned it’s ok to take a break from particular projects. While I loved the aesthetics of it, I was having trouble finishing the pinecone skirt because I really liked what I had thus far and I didn’t want to mess that up. So I took a break with that piece and I worked on other stuff for about two weeks. Then when I returned to it, I felt invigorated and I really enjoyed working on it again. I think while I am definitely able to give an answer to my essential question, that answer would definitely not be complete, and i’m quite happy about that actually. I went into this project trying to make it so that every piece I made perfectly matched with the image in my head. Sometimes I did and it was great and other times I didn’t, and it turned out better than I could have even imagined. To me, that’s the beauty of fashion, and art in general, to allow you to move the piece as it moves with you. To listen to a garment or a piece of fabric and try to interpret the language of art is one of the most crucial and essential aspects of any kind of creation, and for that I think I have answered my essential question
