Essential Question: How can reverse engineering help me better understand the way certain electronics work?

Over the course of my senior project, I have discovered that it is easy for me to get work done over several hours when I am doing something I enjoy. Oftentimes when taking devices apart, I would sit there for long periods of time removing various pieces, trying to figure out their function, inspecting them for damage, etc. I would start fairly early in the day and realize I had been working all day when I look out the window and see it’s nighttime. I also found that overall, it is easier for me to work with my hands, as in with the physical tools and components I was dealing with, as opposed to working on 3D design on Onshape. I’m not saying I didn’t enjoy working on Onshape at all, it was just difficult for me to begin work there because of how tedious it was trying to figure out good ways to get the shapes I wanted, especially with my limited knowledge on the website and how much more complex designing the blower was than I originally thought. There are several tools on Onshape that can be used to design what I want, I just haven’t mastered the tools I have already been exposed to, and don’t know how I could use the ones I haven’t yet used. It’s also as if there are tools within the tools because after creating different planes and rearranging the sketches, there is more that the tools allow you to do which I haven’t yet uncovered. Despite how much I learned about 3D design from Onshape, I recognize I still don’t know enough about it to accurately make designs myself. I do however know that its purpose is essential considering how many engineers I have seen use it on Youtube channels such as the Hacksmith. It is especially crucial when designing things from scratch since, as I have talked about in my blog posts as well as read in several articles, the design of a product is just as important as what is inside it since the casing dictates how comfortable and attractive the product is for the customer.
